Which Sprinter body styles are there, and how much glass does each have?
Start with the body style, because it decides how much glass there is to tint. Mercedes-Benz Canada’s 2026 line-up runs from cargo vans that can have little or no side glass to passenger vans with windows along the whole passenger area.
| 2026 Sprinter (Canada) | Wheelbase and roof | Length or seats | Glass behind the driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cargo Van | 144 in. standard or high roof; 170 in. high roof; 170 in. Extended high roof | 234, 274 or 290 in. long | Rear door and side windows only if ordered |
| Crew Van | 144 in. standard roof; 170 in. high roof | Up to 5 seats | Glass around the second row, as ordered |
| Passenger Van | 144 in. standard roof | 12 seats | Windows along the passenger area |
| Passenger Van | 170 in. high roof | 15 seats | Windows along the passenger area |
| Cab Chassis | 144 in. or 170 in. | Cab only | Whatever the cab has behind the front seats |
The line-up and seat counts are from the Cargo Van, Crew Van and Passenger Van pages. The cargo van window options, from rear door windows to fixed side glass, are laid out on van window tinting. Photos of each side and the rear doors are the quickest way to show the shop what your van has.
How do the Sprinter’s windshield cameras affect tint?
They keep film away from the area the cameras look through. The Sprinter’s MY2026 operator’s manual shows a multifunction camera at the windshield and says the “detection ranges around them must be kept free”, naming “stickers, car films, or stone chip protection foils” among the things not to attach there.
In BC the only legal film on a windshield is a strip within 75 mm of the top, under MVAR s. 7.05(8)(a). On a Sprinter fitted with windshield cameras, that strip has to stop short of their detection range, which may mean a narrower strip or none. A full windshield of film breaks BC’s rule whatever its shade. The shop will fit one from the inside if asked, once you’ve heard about the ticket and the inspection it can lead to, and on a Sprinter with windshield cameras the maker’s instruction is one more reason not to. More on windshields in general is on windshield tint.
Does dark rear glass interfere with the Sprinter’s digital mirror?
Not in display mode. Mercedes-Benz says the optional digital inside rearview mirror “uses a rear-mounted camera on top of the roof”, so its picture doesn’t pass through the rear door glass at all.
The same mirror “can be used either as a standard inside rearview mirror or as a display.” In standard mode it works like any mirror, looking out through the rear windows, and dark film darkens that view. So a Sprinter with the digital mirror can carry very dark rear door film and still give the driver a clear picture behind; one with a plain mirror relies on the outside mirrors, which BC requires on both sides for any film on the rear window. Mercedes-Benz Canada also lists a 360-degree camera as an option.
How should a Sprinter Passenger Van be tinted?
For the people inside first. A 12- or 15-seat Sprinter carries crews, guests or passengers who want to see out, so a mid shade or clear ceramic film usually works better there than limo-dark glass.
| LLumar film (spec sheet) | Visible light through | Total solar energy rejected | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| AIR 90 | 84% | 30% | Barely visible film, mainly for UV and some heat |
| IRX 50 | 54% | 50% | A light tint with strong heat rejection |
| IRX 15 | 20% | 59% | Privacy for a shuttle or camper, with the most heat cut |
The numbers are LLumar’s, published in its film data sheet from tests on clear glass; UV blocking is above 99% for each. If your van’s side glass is already tinted from the factory, the film’s percentage multiplies with it, so a light shade goes further than it looks. Clear ceramic is described on LLumar AIR.
The manual also covers a rear window heater on vans fitted with one. Film goes over the heating lines normally; it matters only at removal, which the shop does with steam.
What does BC law allow on a Sprinter?
Behind the driver’s seat, a Sprinter’s glass can be any darkness, and the rear door windows qualify as long as mirrors are fitted outside on both sides. The two front door windows can’t legally be filmed, and the windshield only within its top 75 mm.
On a fleet of Sprinters, that front glass is where a ticket, a Notice & Order and an inspection would come from, and the shop explains that before fitting anything there. Behind the driver, the shade is a business decision, not a legal one.
How do you book Sprinter tint in Langley?
Send the model year, body style, wheelbase and roof height, the windows fitted behind the driver, and whether the windshield carries cameras and the mirror is digital. A picture of each side and the back helps.
One van can go through the fleet tint request, or call 604 534 6433. Fleets of Sprinters get a matched shade on every unit of a type, booking in blocks and one company bill, and the pricing logic is set out under fleet tint cost. The Ford and Ram equivalents are covered on Transit window tint and ProMaster window tint.
