Ford Transit Window Tint in Langley

At a glance

Brookswood Tint prices Ford Transit tint van by van, from the glass Ford built it with, in LLumar ATC, IRX or AIR. Ford builds the 2027 Transit Cargo Van with no cargo-area windows as standard, so many need film only on the rear door glass, while the 12- and 15-seat Passenger Vans have windows all round. BC sets no darkness limit behind the driver's seat, and the rear door glass qualifies as long as both outside mirrors are fitted.

Which glass on a Ford Transit gets tinted?

Whatever your Transit has behind the driver, which depends on the glass package it was ordered with. Ford’s 2027 Transit Cargo Van page lists “No Cargo Area Windows” as standard, so the build sheet is the first thing to check.

Here’s how each of Ford’s glass choices turns into a tint job:

On the build sheet (2027 Cargo Van) Glass behind the driver What the tint job is
No Cargo Area Windows (standard) None Nothing behind the driver; only a windshield strip in the top 75 mm is legal
Fixed Rear Cargo Door Glass The two rear door panes The smallest Transit job
Rear door glass plus fixed 2nd row passenger-side glass Rear doors and one side pane Three panes
Windows-All-Around, Fixed Every pane behind the driver The largest Transit job
Privacy Glass Factory-darkened glass Film adds to the factory tint, so choose the shade carefully

Ford notes that each of these rear glass choices “Includes Rear-window Defroster”. That doesn’t change the tint job, but it matters if old film ever comes off: heated glass is steamed, not scraped, as the rear window tint removal page explains.

What happens to the inside mirror when a Transit’s rear glass goes dark?

On a Transit, the inside mirror depends on the rear glass. Ford lists “Rearview Mirror Delete (When Equipped Without Rear Glass)” as standard, and includes a rearview mirror “with rear glass window configurations”, so a van with blank rear doors leaves the factory with no inside mirror at all.

BC’s regulation expects exactly this. MVAR s. 7.04(3) says a vehicle whose inside mirror doesn’t give the required view to the rear must carry a second outside mirror, on the passenger side, after which the inside one can go. For rear-window film, s. 7.05(8)(c) asks for mirrors outside on the left and the right, and the Transit has both as standard.

Very dark film on the rear doors puts a glazed Transit close to the blank-door situation, so think about how you reverse:

  • Rear View Camera. Standard on the 2027 Cargo Van, and unaffected by film on the glass.
  • Digital Rearview Mirror. An option on the 2027 Cargo Van and Passenger Van.
  • 360-Degree Camera. An option on both.
  • Recall check. NHTSA recall 25V315000 covers 2022 to 2025 Transits in the US for a rearview camera image that may “delay, freeze, or not display”; ask a Ford dealer to check your van’s VIN for open recalls in Canada.

How should a Transit Passenger Van be tinted?

Lighter than a cargo van, as a rule, because people ride behind that glass and want to see out. Ford’s 2027 Transit Passenger Van XL seats 12 as standard on the Long length and 15 on the Extended, with windows all round, so the film choice is about comfort as much as privacy.

Factory glass varies by roof height. Ford lists “Rear Solar Tinted Glass (Std. on Low Roof Only)” and offers privacy glass as an option, and it doesn’t publish the light transmission of either. Film multiplies with the glass it goes on: 20% film over glass that already passes 20% leaves about 4%. Check what your van has before choosing, as covered in can you tint over factory tint.

LLumar film (spec sheet) Visible light through Total solar energy rejected Suits
AIR 80 77% 43% Riders who want a clear view out, with infrared heat cut (60% IRER)
IRX 35 39% 54% A darker passenger area without blacking it out
ATC 35 38% 35% The same look at the lowest price

LLumar’s spec sheet is the source, tested on plain clear glass, and all three stop more than 99% of UV.

What does BC law allow on a Transit?

On a Transit, BC’s line falls at the driver’s seat back: everything behind it may be filmed at any darkness, the rear doors included once both outside mirrors are on. Ahead of that line, the front door glass can’t take film, and the windshield only a strip within 75 mm of its top.

Front film is something the shop will fit if asked, but only after you’ve heard what can follow it: a ticket, a Notice & Order to strip it, and an inspection, each one time a working van spends off its route. Front window tint in BC goes through the rule in detail.

How do you book Transit window tint in Langley?

Send the model year, roof height (Low, Medium or High), length (Regular, Long or Extended), and the glass package from the build sheet, or, failing that, pictures of each side of the van and its back doors. Add the film you’re leaning towards and whether old film needs removing.

A single van can be quoted from the fleet request form or over the phone at 604 534 6433. For several, send the unit list; fleet tinting explains how shade profiles, block bookings and company billing work. How Transit tint compares with the other two big vans is on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter tint and Ram ProMaster tint.

Questions about ford Transit window tint

01Can you tint the window in a Transit's bulkhead?

Ask when you book. Ford offers bulkheads with a window, and that pane sits inside the van rather than in the body, so the shop will look at it with the rest of your glass.

02Does the E-Transit tint any differently from a diesel or gas Transit?

No. Ford lists the same cargo-area glass options for the E-Transit Cargo Van as for the regular Cargo Van, so the film, shades and pricing approach are the same.

03My Transit's rear door glass has a defroster. Is that a problem for film?

No. The film lies over the heating lines and they carry on working. The only time the grid needs special care is at removal, and the shop steams old film off instead of cutting it.

04Which Transit roof height do you need to know about?

Send the roof height and the length with the van's year. Ford builds Low, Medium and High roofs in Regular, Long and Extended lengths, and the film pattern is matched to the van you have.
