Purple, bubbling or peeling tint is old dyed film at the end of its life. Film that failed an inspection or came with a used car is a different problem with the same answer. We steam the old film off, dissolve the adhesive and leave the glass as clean as the day it was made.
Rear windows with defroster grids are the job people are afraid of. Done with steam and patience instead of a blade, the grid survives.

Strip the old film and install LLumar ATC, IRX or AIR in the shade you want, with the lifetime warranty. The removal is discounted when we re-tint.

Steam, not blades
Steam softens the adhesive so the film peels in sheets. Razor blades on rear glass cut defroster lines; we don't use them there.

Adhesive fully removed
The sticky haze left behind by DIY removal is what makes new tint look cloudy. We dissolve it completely.

Defroster and antenna protected
Rear-window grids and glass-mounted antennas are tested before and after.

Interior protected
Door panels, seats and rear decks are covered. Removal is a wet job and we treat it like one.

Glass inspected
Old film often hides chips, scratches and failed seals. We'll show you anything we find before new film goes on.

01Why did my tint turn purple?
Cheap dyed film uses dyes that break down under UV, so the film goes purple and stops rejecting heat. LLumar ATC uses colour-stable dyes and IRX and AIR have no dye layer to fade at all.
02Can you remove tint without damaging the rear defroster?
Yes. Steam removal lifts the film and adhesive without abrading the grid lines. It's slower than a blade and it's the only way we do rear glass.
03How long does removal take?
One to three hours depending on how many windows and how badly the adhesive has failed. Old film that has baked on for a decade takes longer than film that's a few years old.
04My car failed inspection for tint. What do you need to remove?
In BC the windshield (below the top strip) and both front side windows must be film-free. Rear windows are allowed if you have two side mirrors. We can strip just the front two and leave the rest.
