What light film can go on a Corvette’s lamps?
Four STEK films are on offer for a C8’s lamps; each piece is warmed until it takes the shape of the lens, then hand-trimmed at the edge. Expect two to three hours for each pair of Corvette lamps, priced per car.
| STEK film | Effect on a Corvette’s lamps |
|---|---|
| 50% smoke | A lighter smoke over the lens |
| 30% smoke | A much darker, near-black lens |
| Yellow | A yellow cast, meant for the front lamps |
| Clear | Shields the lens surface, colour unchanged |
For STEK film, the shop’s published term is seven years, covering yellowing, cracking and peeling. The STEK page has the film’s specs, and every option in the table, clear included, falls under the inspection caution below.
Will smoked Corvette lamps pass a BC inspection?
Probably not, at either shade. BC’s 2025 inspection manual handles this in its lamp rules (item 1.0(a) of Section 6): a Corvette lamp with a covered lens, or one passing less light, can be rejected, so smoke, yellow and even clear film may be questioned.
That matters most when the car changes hands, comes from another province, or is ordered in for an inspection. Because heat releases STEK film, it can be taken off ahead of a test, with fresh film fitted once the car has passed. You’ll hear that from the shop before any film goes on, and BC’s rule on smoked taillights has more.
How do a C8’s headlamps work with the front lift?
They level themselves to match it. GM’s PIC6512, for 2020 to 2023 Corvettes with the E60 front lift, says the body control module commands the levelling portion of each headlamp up and down when the lift is used, over a LIN data circuit running between the headlamp capsules and the module.
A break in that circuit can bring up a “Service Headlamp System” message even while every lamp still works. None of that is touched by light film, which only covers the lens’s outer face. Separately, GM’s bulletin 22-NA-199 fixed 2022 and 2023 cars whose daytime running lamps didn’t switch on in daylight, with the headlamps lit instead, through a body control module software update. Have either issue sorted before the lenses are filmed, so a lighting fault isn’t blamed on the film.
Can smoke film hide a dead rear turn signal on a Corvette?
It can make one harder to spot, so the car’s own warning matters. NHTSA recall 26V213000 covers 2025 and 2026 Corvettes, E-Ray and ZR1X included, where a software error may stop the car detecting a failed rear turn signal.
GM’s customer satisfaction program N252541251 addresses the same missing warning on 2024 Corvettes by reprogramming the exterior lighting module, over the air or at a dealer, and GM’s over-the-air update 663.10 lists “more accurate detection of rear turn signal outages” for 2023 cars. Check that your car has the update before darkening its tail lamps, and walk round it now and then with the signals on. How smoke affects brightness is covered in whether taillight tint makes brake lights dimmer.
What does GM say about caring for Corvette lenses?
Treat them gently, because they’re plastic. GM’s lamp damage bulletin 02-08-42-001J says most late-model headlamp lenses are polycarbonate, which chemicals such as rubbing compound, tar removers, prep solvents, cleaner waxes and alcohol can craze or crack, and it recommends only lukewarm or cold water, a soft cloth and car wash soap.
The same bulletin warns that covering a lit lamp traps heat and can deform the lens, names aftermarket shields “often tinted in color” among the causes, and says headlamps altered to accept an accessory aren’t covered by the new-vehicle warranty. It’s written about rigid shields and shop mats, not film, but it’s a good reason to ask your dealer how lamp film sits with your warranty first.
How do you book Corvette light film in Langley?
Say which lamps you want done, the shade, and the year and model of your Corvette. Each Corvette is priced on its own, and a pair of lamps keeps the car for two to three hours.
If you’d like the smoked look on the taillights specifically, the smoked taillights page shows how the shades compare. Use the light film quote form for a Corvette price, or call 604 534 6433.
