Can you smoke a Charger’s racetrack taillights?
Yes. Each taillamp lens gets its own piece of STEK smoke film, 50% or the darker 30%, in about two to three hours a pair, priced from your Charger’s lamps.
Dodge’s 2015 release calls the racetrack LED taillamp a signature of the car and says that for 2015 it took on a continuous glowing ribbon of light, with the headlamps and taillamps wrapped around each corner. That’s a long, curving lens, so the film has to follow it round onto the sides of the car. Smoke darkens the tail, brake and signal light together. The shop’s published terms give STEK film seven years against yellowing, cracking and peeling, and the STEK page lists the shades.
Which lamps does each Charger generation have?
LED front and rear on the 2023 sedan and on the newer car, laid out differently; earlier sedans varied by trim. Dodge’s Canadian sheets and press kits describe them like this:
| Lamp | 2015 to 2023 Charger | 2024-and-later Charger |
|---|---|---|
| Headlamps | Bi-functional LED projectors with LED accents (2023); Dodge logos in the outer corner of each lamp from 2015 | LED, with premium LED headlamps and a signature running light on Plus trims; a Dodge logo laser-etched inside |
| Running lights and front signals | LED running lamps with park and turn indicators (2023) | LED running lamps with park and turn indicators; cross-car full-width lighting on Plus trims |
| Taillamps | LED racetrack ribbon | Red “ring of fire” LEDs |
| Lit badge | Not listed | Fratzog badge, front and rear |

Dodge lists the park and turn indicators as part of the LED running lamps on both cars, so film laid over the running lamps darkens the front signals too. On the newer car, decide whether the lit Fratzog badge between the lamps should be covered; it’s a light as well.
Can Charger headlights take film as well?
Yes, in smoke, yellow or clear STEK film, booked in the same two-to-three-hour slot per pair. What sits behind the lens depends on the year. The 2015 release lists projector headlamps that year, with HID lights on premium trims; the 2023 sheet lists bi-functional LED projectors on every trim; and the newer car’s lamps carry the laser-etched Dodge logo, which smoke film darkens along with the light. Clear film covers the lens without tinting it, so the lamp keeps its factory look.
Will smoked Charger lamps pass a BC inspection?
They can fail. BC’s 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual lists lamp defects in section 6, and under item 1.0(a) a lens is rejected when it is “covered in any manner” or when it “reduces transmission of light”. Smoke film at either shade does both, yellow film on a headlamp changes the colour of the beam, and even clear film may be questioned.
That comes up after a police Notice & Order, when a Charger arrives from out of province, or at a sale. Read whether smoked taillights are legal in BC before you decide, and whether taillight tint makes brake lights dimmer for how much light a shade gives up.
How do you book Charger light film in Langley?
Give the year, trim and which lamps you want done, and choose between 50% smoke, 30% smoke, yellow and clear. You’ll get a price for your Charger’s lamps and a run-through of the inspection risk, then a two-to-three-hour slot per pair. Send the request on the light film form or phone 604 534 6433. Pairing it with darker glass? Charger window tint sets out what BC allows on the windows, and a Charger chrome delete blacks out the badges.
