Ram 1500 Headlight & Taillight Tint in Langley

At a glance

Ram 1500 taillight tint at Brookswood Tint is STEK smoked film in 50% or 30%, heat-formed to each lens and quoted for your truck, with yellow and clear film for the headlights. Any lamp film risks a failed BC inspection, since the lamp rule in the 2025 manual catches a lens "covered in any manner". The shop explains that risk before it installs, and the film peels off if the truck has to pass.

What lighting does a Ram 1500 have?

LED headlamps, plus LED taillamps where the build includes them. Ram’s 2026 design page describes “distinct LED headlamps and available LED taillamps and fog lamps”, plus available signature daytime running lamps and a customizable LED walk-up animation. The upper trims go further:

Ram 1500 lamp What Ram lists
Headlamps (2026 design page) LED
Headlamps, Tungsten (2026) Premium LED headlamps with signature and animation
Headlamps, RHO (2026) Automatic premium LED headlamps with black bezels, signature daytime running lights and LED lighting guides
Night Edition Package Dark headlight bezel
Taillamps LED available
Third brake light, RHO Level 1 group (2026) LED assembly with cargo box illumination and the rearview mirror camera

The trim details come from Ram Canada’s 2026 lineup and the 2026 Canadian feature list. Ram lists the signature lighting and animation as part of the headlamps, so film over a headlamp lens changes all of it at once.

Can smoked taillights on a Ram 1500 pass in BC?

They can fail, at either shade. The trouble is the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual: item 1.0(a) in Section 6 fails a lamp if its lens cuts the light passing through or is “covered in any manner”, and smoked film on a Ram’s lens does both at once.

The Motor Vehicle Act Regulations set the targets the film works against:

  • s. 4.15: two red tail lamps, visible 150 m behind the truck
  • s. 4.17(3)(a): red stop lamps, visible 100 m back in normal sunlight
  • s. 4.04(2)(c): no required lamp may be “shielded, covered or obscured”

The shop installs smoked taillight film on request and explains that risk before it starts. If the truck needs to pass, the film comes off with heat. Whether smoked taillights are legal in BC covers tickets and orders in full, and how much taillight film dims a brake light puts numbers on it.

Should the third brake light on a Ram get film?

Ask first, especially on a truck with the digital rearview mirror. Ram’s 2026 feature list describes the RHO Level 1 group’s centre high-mounted stop lamp as an LED assembly “with cargo box illumination and rearview mirror camera”, so the camera that feeds the mirror lives in the same housing.

Section 4.17(5) permits one additional centre-mounted stop lamp, provided it displays only red to the rear, and the manual’s lens test covers it as it does every lamp. On a truck where that housing also holds the mirror’s camera, have the shop look at it with you before deciding anything about film there.

Should Ram 1500 lamp recalls be done before film goes on?

Yes. Two recent Ram 1500 recalls filed with NHTSA, the US safety regulator, touch the headlamps, and one of them can mean a new assembly.

NHTSA recall Trucks in the US count Problem Remedy
24V942000 53 2025 Ram 1500s Headlight module software can make the headlights inoperative Software update
26V421000 12,592 2026 Ram 1500s Headlight wiring can make parking lights and daytime running lights flicker or fail Inspect, and replace headlight assemblies as necessary

Owner letters for 26V421000 went out on September 17, 2026, and a Ram dealer can check by VIN whether yours is included. If a headlamp is swapped under recall, any film on the old lens leaves with it, so have the dealer finish recall work before booking headlight film.

How do you book Ram 1500 taillight or headlight film?

Pick the lamps and the shade, then send the year and trim. The shop’s 50% smoke is the subtle option and its pick for anything with amber signals in the housing; 30% is the darker, blacked-out look; yellow and clear are for headlights.

Choice Look Note
50% smoke Light tint, close to factory The shop’s pick when a signal shares the housing
30% smoke Dark, blacked-out The bolder look on taillights
Yellow or clear Headlights Can still be questioned at inspection

Allow two to three hours per pair. The shop publishes a 7-year STEK warranty covering yellowing, cracking and peeling. Pricing comes through the light film quote form; for a quick question, text 604 534 6433. The smoked taillight page covers the film itself.

Signature LED strips sit behind the same lens as the main lamp, so smoke film over that lens dims both.

Questions about ram 1500 light tint

01Will 30% smoke on Ram taillights fail an inspection?

It can, and so can 50%. Item 1.0(a) in the 2025 inspection manual rejects a lens that dims the lamp or has anything over it, and BC names no shade as acceptable.

02Can I do only the taillights on my Ram and leave the headlights alone?

Yes. Headlights and taillights are separate jobs, each quoted for your Ram, and the taillight pair is two to three hours of work.

03Is clear film on Ram headlights safe for inspection?

Not necessarily. Because the manual's lamp item reaches any covering at all, an inspector may question clear film too.

04Does the film come off if the truck needs to pass an inspection?

Yes. Warmed up, it peels away and the lens underneath is unchanged, something paint or spray tint can't offer.
