Where is the chrome on a Ram 1500, trim by trim?
Mostly on the bumpers, grille and side steps, and how much you have depends on the trim and its packages. Ram Canada’s 2026 lineup and the 2027 Canadian feature list show the spread:

So a Big Horn’s job centres on the bumpers, an Express brings chrome side steps into it, and a Laramie with the Preferred Package is mostly about the grille. A photo of the front, side and rear tells the shop exactly what’s on yours.
What does Ram’s Night Edition black out?
Most of what a chrome delete would. The 2027 Canadian feature list offers the Night Edition Package on the Tradesman, Big Horn, Sport, Laramie and Limited, and it brings:
- body-colour front and rear bumpers
- black badging, and a black Symbol of Protest fender badge on HEMI V8 trucks
- a black grille and surround
- body-colour door handles and mirror caps
- a dark headlight bezel
- black wheels
Vinyl gets a truck built without the package close to that look on the trim pieces. The headlight bezel is part of the headlamp rather than the body trim, so it’s beyond what a chrome delete wraps; darkening a lamp means film over the lens, which is a separate service with its own BC inspection risk, covered on the Ram 1500 headlight and taillight tint page.
Which Ram badges can be blacked out?
Any of the exterior badges and lettering, each wrapped as its own small piece. Ram has been adding badges lately:
- Fender badge. Ram’s 2026 Canadian press kit says every HEMI-powered 2026 Ram 1500 gets a fender-mounted Symbol of Protest badge. For 2027, the Canadian press kit adds a Satin Black version on the Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock and Rebel, and on Night Edition trucks.
- Rear lettering. Ram’s design page calls out the bold R-A-M rear badging.
- Grille badge. The chrome Ram badge in the Laramie Preferred grille.

How long does vinyl last on a Ram’s trim?
With reasonable care, the shop expects five years or more from cast vinyl on trim, and the 3M or Avery vinyl itself is covered for five years by its maker, per the shop’s terms. The shop notes that trim an ice scraper hits every winter shows wear sooner.
