Hyundai Kona Window Tint in Langley, BC

At a glance

Brookswood Tint tints a Hyundai Kona from $260, covering every window behind the front doors plus the tailgate glass in LLumar ATC, film and fitting both under a lifetime warranty. Ceramic (IRX or AIR) is priced per package. Hyundai Canada already lists privacy glass for the Kona's rear windows, so the film adds to a factory tint. In BC, the front doors and most of the windshield must stay film-free.

What does a Kona tint cost at the Langley shop?

$260 and up for the Kona’s rear glass in LLumar ATC, the colour-stable dyed film. The Kona falls under the SUV rear package: both rear door windows, any side glass behind them and the tailgate.

Ceramic is where the heat figures move. LLumar’s performance data sheet puts IRX’s total solar energy rejection at 50 to 62%, next to 28 to 44% for ATC. AIR 80 looks almost clear yet turns back 60% of infrared energy by IRER, the sheet’s fuller heat measure. Whichever you choose, UV is cut by more than 99%. A plotter cuts each piece to the Kona’s template, so no knife works on the glass. Every class of vehicle is priced on the window tint price list.

Which Kona windows are already tinted from the factory?

The rear ones. Hyundai Canada’s 2027 Kona specifications list “rear window privacy glass” and “solar front glass”, so the back of the car starts dark and the front doors carry a lighter, heat-reducing tint in the glass itself. Hyundai publishes no light-transmission figure for either.

That gap matters because film and glass multiply rather than add. Twenty-percent film on twenty-percent glass leaves roughly 4% of the daylight coming through, far darker than either label suggests. On a Kona, a light ATC 50 or the near-clear AIR over the privacy glass often gives the look people are after, with the film’s heat rejection on top. Look at your own glass in daylight before choosing; tinting over factory privacy glass explains the stacking.

Does the Kona’s sunroof take film, and is the brake light in the way?

Yes, the sunroof can be filmed, and it’s quoted as its own job. Hyundai lists a wide-type power tilt-and-slide sunroof for the 2027 Kona, and on the Kona Electric the power sunroof arrives with the Trend and Ultimate packages. Roof glass sits over the front seats, so film there is about heat and glare more than privacy. The sunroof tint page covers how roof glass is priced.

The third brake light doesn’t complicate the tailgate. Hyundai lists the Kona’s centre high-mount stop lamp as a roof-mounted LED unit, so it isn’t sitting behind the tailgate glass, and the film on that glass doesn’t cover it.

What can go on a Kona’s windshield and front doors in BC?

On the windshield, only the highest 75 mm; on the front doors, nothing. MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film behind the driver and on that strip, so the Kona’s solar front door glass has to stay as Hyundai built it, whatever the shade of film. The shop will still fit front-door film ($140) or a full windshield ($200) if asked, and says plainly that neither is road-legal. According to Mission RCMP a tint ticket typically comes to $109, and an officer may also write a Notice and Order requiring removal and an inspection. The shop explains that before anyone decides. The rule in full: the front-window question answered.

The windshield needs a look first even for the legal strip. Hyundai lists an acoustic film windshield and rain-sensing wipers on the Kona, and its Lane Following Assist reads lane markings through a front-view camera. Mention all three when you ask about a top strip, so the shop can see what sits near the top of your glass before giving a price.

How do you book a Kona tint in Langley?

Say which Kona it is (gas, N Line or Electric), the year and trim, and which film interests you. You’ll get the rear package price, what ceramic adds, and a separate number for the roof if it has one. Most Konas are done in a day.

Afterwards, don’t roll the side glass down for 3 to 5 days. Through week one, the odd water pocket or a slight haze is normal, and both evaporate as the film dries. For cleaning, a microfibre cloth plus an ammonia-free spray is all the film needs, and it should never be scraped. If the paint is next on your list, the Kona PPF page covers the front end. Questions about hyundai Kona window tint

01Is the Kona Electric tinted the same way as the gas Kona?

The method doesn't change, but the pattern is cut for your exact model, so say which Kona you drive and its year. Hyundai Canada pairs the Electric's power sunroof with the Trend and Ultimate packages, so whether there's roof glass to price depends on the package.

02Can the back of a Kona go darker than the factory glass?

Yes. BC puts no darkness cap on side glass behind the driver, and the tailgate glass may take any shade because the Kona carries an outside mirror on each side. Just remember the film sits on top of Hyundai's privacy glass.

03Do I need ceramic film on a small crossover like the Kona?

Not for privacy, since the back glass is dark already. Ceramic earns its price on heat: IRX rejects much more of the sun's energy than the dyed ATC does, and AIR adds heat rejection while barely changing the look.

04How long is a Kona at the shop for tint?

Most Konas are in and out the same day, with the whole car taking two to four hours. Don't open the rear side windows for 3 to 5 days; the adhesive needs that long to set.
