How is a Kia Sportage tint priced?
On the SUV rear package: $260 and up in LLumar’s dyed ATC film, backed for life, film and fitting alike. That figure takes in the rear door windows, the side glass behind them and the liftgate, and ceramic or roof film is added on top.
| Sportage job | What’s included | From |
|---|---|---|
| Rear glass in ATC | Rear doors, rear side glass, liftgate glass | $260 |
| Rear glass in IRX or AIR | The same windows in ceramic film | Priced per package |
| Panoramic sunroof | Roof glass, on trims that have it | Priced separately |
| Front doors | Driver’s and passenger’s windows | $140, not road-legal in BC |
The Sportage’s pattern is cut by plotter, then each piece is heat-formed by hand to its window; at no point is a blade used on the car. A whole SUV usually takes two to four hours. Prices for other body styles sit on the tint prices page.
How does the Sportage’s factory glass change from trim to trim?
The rear privacy glass doesn’t change; the front glass does. Kia’s 2027 Sportage specifications list rear privacy glass and a sound-absorbing windshield on every trim, while solar control glass on the windshield and front doors is reserved for the two Prestige trims.
| 2027 Sportage (Kia US trims) | Rear privacy glass | Solar control glass, windshield and front doors | Panoramic sunroof |
|---|---|---|---|
| LX | Yes | No | No |
| EX | Yes | No | With the EX Panoramic Sunroof Package |
| SX, X-Line | Yes | No | Yes |
| SX Prestige, X-Pro Prestige | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Those are Kia’s US trim names; Canadian trims are named differently, so match your Sportage by its features. Two things follow. Film and privacy glass multiply: a 20% film on 20% glass works out to 0.2 times 0.2, about 4% of the light, and Kia publishes no figure for its glass. Window tint vs factory privacy glass compares the two. And since film is off the table on the front doors in BC, the Prestige trims’ factory solar glass is the only heat control those two windows get.
Is the Sportage’s panoramic sunroof worth filming?
On a sunny commute, often yes, because it’s the biggest piece of glass over the cabin. Kia fits a “Panoramic Sunroof w/ Power Sunshade” as standard from the SX up and as a package on the EX. Pull the sunshade across and the light stops, but so does the view; film keeps trimming heat and glare while the shade stays back. Roof film is priced by size, and IRX or AIR suits it better than dyed film because the job up there is heat.
Why does Kia say to leave the Sportage windshield alone?
Because the forward safety camera looks through it. Kia’s Sportage owner’s manual deals with this under forward collision avoidance: no accessories or stickers on the windshield, and never “tint the front windshield”. BC law already limits windshield film to a 75 mm band along the top, and Kia’s wording rules out even that band on this vehicle. Windshield tint and driver-assist cameras sets out what other makers say.
What does BC allow on a Sportage’s front doors?
Nothing, at any shade. Under MVAR s. 7.05(8), only three places may legally carry film: glass behind the driver, the back window (the Sportage has a mirror on each side, so that’s fine), and that strip at the top of the windshield. The shop will tint a Sportage’s front doors on request for $140 and tells you first that it isn’t road-legal: the result can be a ticket, a police order to strip the film, and a fail on item 13d when the car is inspected (2025 inspection manual). The whole rule is set out in BC’s front-window tint answer.
Booking a Sportage at the Langley shop
Give the year and trim, say whether it’s gas, hybrid or plug-in hybrid, and whether the panoramic roof is part of the job. You’ll hear back with a price for the rear glass, what ceramic adds, and the cost of the roof. Most SUVs leave the same day. Don’t lower the filmed windows for 3 to 5 days, and let any early cloudiness clear by itself. The paint can be protected during the same booking, as the Sportage PPF page explains.
