What does pickup truck window tint cost?

The rear glass on a pickup starts at $240 in LLumar ATC dyed film, and that price includes the rear slider. Ceramic film on the same windows, IRX or AIR, is priced per package, and the full price list is on the window tint prices page.

Package Glass covered From
Rear glass, pickup 5 windows: rear door glass, rear quarter glass if fitted, back glass or rear slider $240
IRX or AIR ceramic on the rear glass The same windows in ceramic film Quoted per package
Front doors, full-size pickup Driver’s and front passenger’s windows $160, not road-legal in BC

Front doors on a full-size pickup are $160, and the shop fits them on request. That film is not road-legal in BC. MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows no film, light or dark, on a side window beside or ahead of the driver, and item 13d of the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual rejects it. The ticket for it typically comes to $109. Police can also write a Notice & Order to strip the film and pass an inspection, with a $598 fine if that inspection doesn’t happen within 30 days. The shop goes over all of that before cutting anything, and BC’s front-window tint rule is laid out in full on its own page.

You get genuine LLumar film, a plotter pattern matched to your truck’s year, make, model and cab, and lifetime coverage on both the film and the install. Doing several packages in one booking tends to come in below the packages priced one at a time, so ask what the whole job would cost.

Does the cab style change what gets tinted?

Yes. The cab decides how much glass sits behind the driver, and that is the glass the rear package covers. Ford’s own specification sheet lists the F-150 in three body styles, Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew, and other makers use their own names for similar cab sizes.

Cab type Glass behind the driver How it’s priced
Regular cab, one row of seats (F-150 Regular Cab) Back glass or rear slider Quoted per truck
Extended cab, smaller rear doors (F-150 SuperCab) Rear door glass, plus back glass or slider Rear package, from $240
Crew cab, full rear doors (F-150 SuperCrew) Rear door glass, any quarter glass, plus back glass or slider Rear package, from $240

The shop confirms the price from your exact truck. Rear doors change size from one cab to the next, which is one reason the film is cut from the pattern for your year, make, model and cab rather than from a generic roll.

Can you tint a sliding or power rear window?

Yes. The back glass is part of the $240 rear package whether it’s fixed or a manual or power slider. What changes is the pattern, because rear cab glass can vary from trim to trim within a single model.

Ram’s New Zealand specification sheet for four Ram 1500 Crew Cab trims shows how much:

Ram 1500 Crew Cab trim (NZ spec sheet) Rear sliding cab window Rear window defroster Rear door privacy glass
Express None listed Not listed Yes
Warlock Manual Not listed Yes
Laramie Electric Yes Yes
Limited Electric Yes Yes

Two trucks with the same badge can need different film patterns on the back glass, so give the shop the year, cab and trim when you ask for a price. On Ram’s sheet the defroster arrives only with the electric slider. Where a grid is fitted, the extra care comes at removal: old film on heated glass is steamed off rather than scraped, so the defroster keeps working.

After the install, keep the slider shut for three to five days, the same rule as the door windows, so the film can cure before the glass moves. That applies to any rear window that drops into the cab, too.

Why does the back window need two outside mirrors in BC?

Because that’s the condition BC attaches to rear-window film. MVAR s. 7.05(8)(c) allows material on the rear window only when the vehicle carries outside rear-view mirrors on both its left and right sides. The side windows behind the driver carry no mirror condition and can take any shade.

Check that both mirrors are on the truck and intact. With film on the back glass, a missing passenger-side mirror is a fail under item 14c of the inspection manual, which also rejects reflective tint on the rear window.

Towing adds a second mirror rule. Under s. 7.04(4), when a trailer cuts into the rear view through your required mirrors, the towing vehicle must carry a mirror on each side, each showing the adjacent lane from 11 m behind the driver to 61 m behind the back of the trailer. The darkness rules window by window are on BC’s tint darkness limits.

Which LLumar film suits a pickup?

Choose by what the truck does. ATC sets the shade at the lowest price, IRX keeps the shade and rejects far more heat, and AIR adds heat rejection to glass that’s already dark.

Film Shades the shop sells Total solar energy rejected (TSER) Where it fits on a truck
ATC, dyed 5, 15, 35, 50% 28–44% Privacy at the starting price
IRX, ceramic 5, 15, 35, 50% 50–62% The same shades with more heat rejected
AIR, near-clear ceramic 70, 80, 90% 43% (AIR 80) Over factory privacy glass, keeping the look

Many crew cabs already have dark glass in the rear doors: Ram’s sheet lists “Rear Door Privacy / Deep-tint Glass” on all four trims. Film on top makes that glass darker still, and the way the two layers add up is explained on the SUV window tint page. The back glass is the window you look through when backing up to a trailer, so consider a lighter shade there than on the rear doors. The LLumar IRX film page has every IRX shade on the spec sheet.

Running several work trucks? Fleet tinting sets one shade profile per vehicle type, books trucks in blocks and invoices the company.

How do you book truck tint in Langley?

Send the year, make, model, cab and trim, say whether the back glass is fixed, manual or power, and pick ATC, IRX or AIR. The shop quotes the rear package, any ceramic difference and, if you want them, the front doors, along with what BC law says about each.

Most trucks are in and out the same day. Keep the windows and the slider closed for three to five days afterwards, and expect a light haze in the first week while the film dries. If there’s old film on the truck, add tint removal to the same booking. Get started with the truck tint quote form, or text the truck’s details to 604 534 6433.

Questions about truck window tint

01Is the rear slider included in the $240 price?

Yes. The pickup rear package counts the back glass or slider as part of its five windows, along with the rear door glass, in LLumar ATC dyed film.

02Can you tint a regular cab pickup?

Yes. With no rear doors, the back glass is the main window behind the driver, so the job doesn't match the five-window package and is quoted for your truck.

03My truck already has old tint on the slider. Can you replace it?

Yes. The old film comes off first as a separate removal, using steam rather than blades so a heated slider's defroster grid survives, and the new film can go on in the same visit.

04Do you tint unusual pickups?

Yes. The Mercedes G63 6x6 in the photos on this page was tinted at the shop. Send the details of your truck and the shop will tell you what the job involves.
