What does a Jetta tint job cost?
$240 for the glass behind the driver in LLumar ATC. That’s the shop’s five-window sedan package: both rear door windows, the quarter glass if the car has it, and the back window, each cut on the plotter for your model year.
| Jetta glass | Panes | From |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan rear package | Rear doors, quarter glass if fitted, back window | $240 |
| Same panes in IRX or AIR ceramic | As above | Quoted per package |
| Rail 2 Rail sunroof | Where fitted | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front side windows | 2 | $140, outside BC’s tint rule |
| Windshield, full, from inside | 1 | $200, not road-legal in BC |
Both the film and the fitting are under the lifetime warranty. A whole-car booking, say rear glass in ceramic plus the sunroof, is usually priced below the separate items added together. The sedan window tint page explains the package in more depth.
Is a Jetta’s rear glass tinted from the factory?
Not according to VW Canada. Neither the 2026 Jetta Buyer’s Guide nor the 2027 Jetta Buyer’s Guide lists privacy or dark tinted glass on any trim, where VW’s Tiguan guide spells it out.
That makes the Jetta easier to plan than most SUVs. With no dark layer underneath, film reads close to its label: 35% looks like a mid tone and 5% looks like limo glass. The same number can look lighter on a Jetta than on a crossover with privacy glass, so judge from samples held up to your own windows. If you’re torn between two shades, 20% versus 35% tint compares them side by side.
Which 2026 and 2027 Jettas have a sunroof?
The 2026 Highline and any car with the Sport Package. VW Canada’s guides show the Rail 2 Rail power sunroof and other glass-related equipment by trim:
| Jetta, Canada | Rail 2 Rail sunroof | Rain-sensing wipers | Window surrounds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Trendline | No | No | Chrome |
| 2026 Comfortline | No | Yes | Chrome |
| 2026 Comfortline Sport Package | Yes | Yes, plus heated wiper park | Black |
| 2026 Highline | Yes | Yes, plus heated wiper park | Chrome |
| 2027 Comfortline | No | Yes | Chrome |
| 2027 Comfortline Sport Package | Yes | Yes, plus heated wiper park | Black |
For 2027 the Canadian Jetta comes as a Comfortline only, with the Sport Package as the one way to get the sunroof. If yours has one, roof film is a separate price; the sunroof tint page covers how it’s done.
Choosing between ATC, IRX and AIR on a Jetta
ATC is the starting-price film and gives you the darker look. IRX costs more and rejects more heat. AIR keeps the glass almost clear while still cutting infrared and UV.
On LLumar’s spec sheet, measured on clear 6 mm glass, ATC rejects 28–44% of total solar energy (TSER) and IRX 50–62%. AIR 80 passes 77% of visible light and rejects 60% of IR energy (IRER). Because the Jetta’s glass isn’t darkened at the factory, those test-glass numbers are a fair guide to what you’ll get, more so than on an SUV. Every option blocks over 99% of UV. The LLumar IRX page has the full shade table.
Where BC’s tint law draws the line on a Jetta
Behind the driver, anything goes; beside and in front of the driver, nothing does, apart from a strip in the top 75 mm of the windshield. That’s MVAR s. 7.05(8).
The back window on a sedan needs outside mirrors on both sides for film to be legal, and every Jetta trim in VW Canada’s guides has power-adjustable, heated outside mirrors, so the back glass can take any shade. The front doors can’t, clear film included; it typically means a $109 ticket and a fail under inspection item 13d. The shop fits front film only on request and explains that first, and front window tint in BC covers what can follow.
Booking a Jetta for tint
Tell the shop the model year, the trim, whether it has the sunroof, and the film you want. A sedan typically takes two to four hours and goes home the same day; keep the windows up for three to five days. Book with the Jetta tint quote form or call 604 534 6433.
