How Long Does PPF Installation Take?

Brookswood Tint Shop · Updated · 4 min read

The short answer

Plan on about one day for a Partial Front at Brookswood Tint, one to two days for either Full Front or the Track Package, and three to five days for Full Vehicle. The paint is always washed and decontaminated before film goes on; if it also needs correcting, add that stage: about a day for an enhancement polish, one to two days for two-stage work. After pickup, the shop asks you to wait a week before the first wash.

Partial Front
Usually 1 day
Full Front or Track Package
1–2 days
Full Vehicle
3–5 days
Correction first, if needed
About 1 day (one stage) to 3+ days
First wash after pickup
Wait a week (shop advice)

How long does each PPF package take?

From one day to five, depending on how much of the car gets film. These are Brookswood Tint’s published times for LLumar Platinum:

Package What gets film Time in the shop From
Partial Front Full bumper, partial hood, partial fenders, headlights, side mirrors Usually one day $850
Full Front Full hood, full fenders, full bumper, headlights, side mirrors One to two days $1,550
Track Package Full Front plus partial roof, A-pillars, rocker panels One to two days $1,900
Full Vehicle All painted surfaces, plus headlights Three to five days $4,000

Prices are starting figures; size, panel complexity and paint condition set the final number. Paint correction, when it’s needed, is a separate stage that comes before the film and adds to the stay. One note on the headlights in every package: section 6, item 1.0(a) of BC’s 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual rejects a lamp whose lens “is covered in any manner”, so even clear film over a lens may be questioned at an inspection.

What happens during a PPF appointment?

Prep, cutting and fitting, in that order. The paint is always prepared before any film is laid on it.

Wash, decontaminate and inspect

Every panel that will get film is washed and decontaminated so no grit or fallout is sealed under it. The paint’s condition is checked at this stage, because whatever is on the paint stays visible through clear film.

Correct the paint, if it needs it

Paint thickness is measured before any machine touches it. Swirls or light scratches are polished out first, since film would preserve them.

Cut the film from a template

The shop cuts LLumar Platinum from software templates matched to the vehicle, so each piece arrives shaped for its panel.

Fit each panel and finish the edges

Each piece is laid on its panel and worked into place, and the edges are wrapped around the panel where the shape allows. Bumpers sometimes need a relief cut; when one is unavoidable, the owner is shown where it will sit before it’s made. Wrapped edges are explained in the glossary entry on wrapped edges.

What makes a PPF job take longer?

Paint that needs correcting, more panels, and more complicated panels. Correction is the one that can change the plan by days.

Correction stage What it involves Time it adds, before film
None needed Paint goes straight to film after prep Nothing beyond the package time
Enhancement polish One polishing stage About a day
Two-stage correction Two polishing stages One to two days
Multi-stage restoration Several stages, quoted after the paint is inspected Three days or more

Beyond the paint, a larger vehicle has more surface, and a bumper full of vents, sensors and sharp creases means more pieces and more edge work than a flat hood. Those are the same factors the shop names when it explains why final prices vary. The stages themselves are described on paint correction.

Why does full-vehicle PPF take three to five days?

Because it’s every painted panel, not just the nose. A front package covers five areas: bumper, hood, fenders, headlights and mirrors. Full Vehicle adds the doors, roof, pillars, quarter panels, rockers, trunk or hatch and rear bumper, and each of those is prepped, fitted and edge-finished the same way.

It’s also the package where correction weighs most: if the paint needs it, every panel that gets film is corrected first. The package is detailed on full body PPF, and the front-only option on full front PPF.

What happens after you pick the car up?

You drive it home; the waiting is about washing. Brookswood Tint asks you to wait a week before the first wash, then stick to hand or touchless washes, keep pressure-washer nozzles away from film edges, and avoid brush washes.

LLumar’s own PPF FAQ is shorter: it recommends holding off for “three days (72hrs)” before washing. The shop’s week is the more cautious of the two. The full timing question is on when you can wash your car after PPF.

Can tint or a ceramic coating go on in the same visit?

Yes, and the longest job sets the pickup day. Window tint on a sedan or SUV is a 2-to-4-hour job, so it fits inside even a one-day PPF booking. A ceramic coating takes one to three days in the shop and goes on after the film, with the car kept dry for 24 hours after pickup.

How those combine, and what order they go in, is set out on getting tint, PPF and ceramic at the same time.

Planning your PPF drop-off in Langley

Ask for dates with your quote. You’ll find the shop at Unit 312, 20560 Langley Bypass; it’s closed on Sundays and open 9:00 to 17:00 the other six days, so a two-day job that starts on a Saturday finishes on the Monday.

Send the year, make and model, the package you’re considering and anything you know about the paint, such as swirls or old touch-ups, through the PPF quote form, or phone or text the shop on 604 534 6433. LLumar Platinum carries a 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty, per its Platinum Gloss page; the shop lists yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling as the defects it covers. The packages are compared on the paint protection film page.

Full Vehicle coverage puts film on every painted surface plus the headlights, which is why it takes days rather than one.

Related questions

01Can I wait at the shop while PPF goes on?

Not really. Even the smallest package, the Partial Front, is usually a full day's work, so plan to drop the car off and arrange a ride.

02Is PPF faster on a brand-new car?

It can be, if the paint needs no correcting; then the package time is the whole visit. New paint is still washed, decontaminated and checked before film goes on.

03Can I drive the car home the day I pick it up?

Yes. The waiting after PPF is about washing, not driving: the shop asks for a week before the first wash, then hand or touchless washes only.

04Why does the Track Package take no longer than Full Front?

The shop publishes the same one-to-two-day window for both. The Track Package's extra pieces, the A-pillars, part of the roof and the rocker panels, are fitted within that window.
