What does full body PPF cover for $4,000?
Full body PPF, sold as the Full Vehicle package, covers every painted surface on the car plus the headlights. The starting price is $4,000 plus tax, in LLumar Platinum gloss or matte.
| Zone | Panels |
|---|---|
| Front | Full hood, full fenders, full front bumper, headlights, side mirrors |
| Pillars and roof | A-pillars and the whole roof |
| Sides | Doors, rocker panels, rear quarter panels |
| Rear | Trunk lid, engine cover or tailgate, rear bumper, and a wing or spoiler if it’s painted |
Some things aren’t painted surfaces and aren’t in the package:
- Glass. PPF goes on paint. Side and rear windows take window tint, and the shop doesn’t install exterior windshield protection film.
- Taillights. The package lists the headlights only. Taillights can get STEK light film as a separate job; see headlight and taillight film.
- Wheels and unpainted trim. Black plastic trim and chrome aren’t part of a paint package.
Size, panel shapes and paint condition set the final number. A coupe and a full-size SUV both start at $4,000, but they won’t finish at the same figure.
Who is full body PPF for?
Full body is for owners who want no painted panel left exposed: cars kept for the long term, garage-kept collector and weekend cars, exotics, and anyone after an even matte look across the whole car.
Garage-kept and collector cars
A car that lives under a cover and comes out on dry weekends isn’t racking up highway chips, but it’s the car whose owner notices every mark. Full body film puts a self-healing layer over the doors, quarters and rear as well as the nose, so parking-lot scuffs and wash marks land on film.
Exotics and track-capable cars
The satin black Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the shop’s photo library wears full PPF. If your car is a supercar or exotic, the exotic car PPF page is written for you.
A matte look without a matte paint job
LLumar says Platinum Matte can “transform glossy paint without sacrificing protection”. Matte film turns gloss paint satin, and on a full body the change is even from bumper to bumper, with no point where the finish switches back to gloss.
Are there visible edges on a full body install?
Every full panel is filmed out to its own perimeter, with the film folded around the edge wherever the shape lets it, so there’s no film line across the middle of a door, the hood or the roof. Partial packages end some pieces on open paint; full body doesn’t need to.
Bumpers are the exception. Their shapes sometimes make a relief cut unavoidable, and the shop shows you where any relief cut will go before the film is laid. Edges at panel gaps are still edges, so the aftercare rules about pressure washers apply to every panel on a full body car.
How long does a full body PPF install take?
Expect three to five days. A full body touches every painted panel, so there is far more prep and fitting than on a front package, and a car that needs correction first stays longer.
Paint inspection and correction
Paint thickness is measured before any polishing. A light enhancement polish takes about a day, two-stage work takes one to two days, and heavier multi-stage restoration runs three days or longer and is priced after the paint is inspected. Any of them happens before film goes on. Details are on the paint correction page.
Decontamination
Every painted panel is decontaminated before film, so no road film, tar or fallout ends up sealed underneath.
Fitting panel by panel
Each panel’s film is computer-cut to a template for your model and laid one panel at a time, with the edges wrapped where possible.
How do you care for a car wrapped in full body film?
Leave the car unwashed for a week after pickup. After that, wash by hand or touchless, hold pressure-washer wands well back from the film edges on every panel, and never use a brush wash.
LLumar’s self-healing claim for Platinum is that surface scratches and swirls reduce with heat from the engine or sunlight. A ceramic coating can be applied over the film; the shop’s Signature coating package lists PPF among the surfaces it coats.
What do the warranty and insurance look like for full body PPF?
For ten years, LLumar’s manufacturer’s limited warranty stands behind Platinum; the defects the shop names under it are yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. LLumar points buyers to the dealer for the detailed terms, and the shop’s tint and PPF warranty page has more on warranties.
Insurance is a separate question. ICBC’s partner policy treats vehicle wraps as “additional vehicle equipment”, but we found no ICBC page that mentions paint protection film. On a $4,000-plus install, keep the invoice and ask ICBC directly how film would be handled before you rely on anything.
How much more is full body than the Track Package?
At starting prices, Full Vehicle is $2,100 more than the Track Package: $4,000 against $1,900, both plus tax. For that $2,100 the film carries on over every door, the roof behind its front section, the rear quarters, the trunk or tailgate and the rear bumper.
| From | To Full Vehicle ($4,000) |
|---|---|
| Track Package, $1,900 | $2,100 more |
| Full Front, $1,550 | $2,450 more |
| Partial Front, $850 | $3,150 more |
Full Vehicle is the top package, so the next steps up are add-ons rather than more film: a coating over the PPF, taillight film, or window tint.
