What does the Track Package cover beyond full front?
The Track Package is everything in full front plus three more areas: the A-pillars, a partial roof and the rocker panels. That’s eight items in total, cut in LLumar Platinum from a template for your exact vehicle, from $1,900 plus tax.
| Area | Full Front ($1,550) | Track Package ($1,900) |
|---|---|---|
| Full hood | Yes | Yes |
| Full front fenders | Yes | Yes |
| Full front bumper | Yes | Yes |
| Headlights | Yes | Yes |
| Side mirrors | Yes | Yes |
| A-pillars | No | Yes |
| Partial roof | No | Yes |
| Rocker panels | No | Yes |
A-pillars
The A-pillars are the posts on either side of the windshield. They lean back at the same angle as the glass, so they face the road ahead in the same way the windshield does.
Partial roof
The front section of the roof, just behind the top of the windshield, gets film. The rest of the roof stays bare unless you move up to Full Vehicle.
Rocker panels
The rockers are the sills below the doors, between the front and rear wheels. They sit low, right behind the front tires, in the path of whatever those tires pick up off the road.
Who should choose the Track Package?
Choose it if your car gets chipped on its sides and pillars, not only on its nose: track days, gravel and rural roads, or a truck or SUV that lives on sand and gravel. If your chips stop at the bumper and hood, full front PPF is $350 less.
Track days at a road course
On a lapping day you often run close behind other cars at speed, and whatever comes off their tires reaches your front end, pillars and sills. The shop pitches this package at exactly that: full front plus the panels that take a beating on track days and gravel roads.
Gravel, back roads and the Fraser Valley outside town
TranBC says main provincial highways use winter abrasive no bigger than 9.5 mm, while less-travelled paved highways use a larger mix with a maximum of 12.5 mm. If your regular routes include those roads, the stones are bigger, and the pillars and rockers are worth covering along with the nose.
Trucks and SUVs
Truck owners in BC and on the Prairies ask about front PPF plus rockers, A-pillars and the rear bumper because of sand and gravel. The Track Package covers the first three; the rear bumper comes with Full Vehicle.
Is the Track Package made with LLumar Platinum Extra?
No. The Track Package is quoted in LLumar Platinum, the same self-healing film as every other package, and the $1,900 starting price is a Platinum price.
LLumar does make a thicker film. On its PPF lineup page, LLumar describes Platinum Extra as its highest impact resistance “in a thicker, stronger PPF made for gravel roads, track racing, and harsh weather”, and its Platinum Extra page calls it LLumar’s thickest paint protection film, backed by a 10-year limited warranty. LLumar doesn’t publish thickness figures for either film. If you’ve read about Extra and want to talk about it, raise it when you ask for a quote; the package price on this page is for Platinum.
Where do the film edges fall on a Track Package car?
On the hood, fenders and A-pillars, film runs to the panel’s own edges and is wrapped where the panel allows. The partial roof is different: like a partial hood, it ends on open paint, so there’s an edge across the roof behind the windshield.
The bumper may need a relief cut depending on its shape, and you’re shown where before work starts. On the rockers, the film follows the sill along the bottom of the car. These are the panels the Track Package leaves without film:
| Not covered | Package that adds it |
|---|---|
| Rest of the roof | Full Vehicle |
| Doors and rear quarters | Full Vehicle |
| Trunk, engine cover or tailgate | Full Vehicle |
| Rear bumper | Full Vehicle |
How long does a Track Package install take?
One to two days, the same window as full front. The car arrives, the panels that get film are decontaminated, and any paint correction happens before film goes on.
Prep comes first
Paint under film stays the way it was when the film went on, so swirls or light scratches are corrected first when the paint needs it. Paint thickness is measured before any paint correction, and correction adds its own time to the visit.
Pillars, roof and sills
The A-pillar, roof and rocker pieces are cut from the same software template as the front panels and fitted in the same visit, so the whole package is done in one appointment.
How do you look after Track Package film after a track day or a gravel run?
Wait a week after install before the first wash, then stick to hand washing or a touchless wash. Point pressure-washer wands away from every film edge, including the line across the roof and the long edges on the rocker panels, and stay out of brush washes.
Per LLumar, the Platinum topcoat uses heat from the engine or the sun to reduce fine scratches and swirls. The warranty is a 10-year, manufacturer-backed one, and the shop’s published terms list yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. Those four are about how the film ages, so if a stone ever tears a piece, ask about it at the shop rather than assuming it’s a warranty claim.
How much is the Track Package compared with the packages either side?
The Track Package is $350 more than full front and $2,100 less than Full Vehicle, at starting prices plus tax. Against a partial front, it’s $1,050 more.
| Package | From (plus tax) | Compared with Track |
|---|---|---|
| Partial Front | $850 | $1,050 less |
| Full Front | $1,550 | $350 less |
| Track Package | $1,900 | |
| Full Vehicle | $4,000 | $2,100 more |
The $2,100 step to full body PPF covers the doors, rear quarters, the rest of the roof, the trunk and the rear bumper. Every package price, and what moves a quote up, is in the full PPF price list.
How do you book the Track Package in Langley?
For a Track Package price, text or call 604 534 6433 or use the quote request for PPF, and include the car’s year, make, model and the finish you want. Expect $1,900 plus tax as the starting figure and a one-to-two-day stay at the Langley Bypass shop. If you have a track day on the calendar, book so the install and the first week before washing are done before the event. Supercar owners can also read about PPF on exotic cars.
