How is a Lamborghini Huracán coated, and what does it cost?
In one of three graphene-ceramic packages, priced for your car because the shop publishes no coating prices. The quote turns on the package, the paint’s finish and condition, and whether film already covers part of the body.
Essential puts a single layer on the paint after a decontamination wash, clay and at least one polishing stage. Performance adds a second layer over a two-stage correction and extends the coating to the wheel faces and glass. Signature builds four layers over full correction and covers paint, film, wheels, glass and trim; the shop describes it as its setup for new exotics and full-PPF cars.
Before any machine work, the paint thickness is measured, panel by panel. Count on one to three days before the Huracán goes home. Whether a coating needs correction first, and why, is answered in paint correction before ceramic coating.
Which Huracán finishes need care before coating?
Matte ones, wherever they appear on the car. Lamborghini mixed finishes on several Huracáns, and gloss and matte areas are prepared differently even when they sit side by side.
- EVO Fluo Capsule. Lamborghini’s Fluo Capsule page lists five Fluo paints, Verde Shock, Arancio Livrea, Celeste Fedra, Arancio Dac and Giallo Clarus, each set against a roof, front bumper and side skirts in matte black.
- Huracán Avio. The Avio was offered in five new exterior colours, each available with a choice of liveries, so stripes and body colour meet at edges a polisher has to respect.
- Early engine bonnets. A 2015 Lamborghini bulletin describes the rear bonnet grille as “gloss or matt depending on the ‘Style package’”, so check which one your car has before anything is polished.
- EVO. The Huracán EVO introduced new Ad Personam colours, so ask for your car’s paint name rather than guessing from the photos.
Gloss paint is corrected and then coated. Matte paint and trim are cleaned, decontaminated and given a coating formulated for flat finishes, with no polishing, because polishing a matte surface leaves shiny patches. The matte paint coating page walks through that method.
Are carbon and Forged Composites parts coated?
Yes, as trim, once the shop knows which parts are bare and which are painted. On the STO, carbon fibre makes up over three-quarters of the body panels by Lamborghini’s count, so point out which of them wear paint and which leave the carbon visible.
The Huracán Performante went further with Forged Composites, Lamborghini’s patented forged carbon, for its front and rear spoilers. Their surface is the bare composite, with no paint over it. They’re inspected separately from the bodywork and coated in packages that include trim, which is Signature.
Should a Huracán get PPF before it’s coated?
If you want both, yes: film first, coating second. The coating then covers paint and film together, so the whole car beads and sheds water the same way after a wet drive.
Signature is the package built with film in mind, because it coats the PPF as well as the paint. The coating over PPF page explains the order, and the Huracán PPF page lists the film packages.
Booking a Huracán ceramic coating in Langley
Give the shop the model year, version and paint name, list any matte or exposed-composite parts, and say whether PPF is already fitted. Allow one to three days in the bay, then keep the Huracán dry for 24 hours after pickup.
That dry day needs a plan in the Fraser Valley, where Abbotsford averages 179.5 days with precipitation a year, according to Environment Canada’s climate normals. Pick a dry forecast or a garage at home. For a Huracán figure, phone 604 534 6433 or fill in the coating quote form.
