Where is the bright trim on each 2027 Explorer?
Mostly on the Platinum, with smaller touches elsewhere. Ford Canada’s 2027 trim pages describe the exterior finishes like this:
| 2027 trim | Grille | Roof rails | Other bright or accent pieces Ford lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active | Black mesh insert with chrome bars | Black | Nothing beyond the grille bars; mirror caps are black |
| ST-Line | Black mesh insert | Black | Ebony Chrome accent in the lower cladding |
| Tremor | Unique, with off-road auxiliary lights | Black | Ebony Chrome cladding accent, silver-painted skid plate elements |
| Platinum | Satin chrome and ebony | Satin | Satin aluminum cladding insert; quad chrome exhaust tips optional |
| ST | Black mesh insert | Black | Quad chrome exhaust tips |
So a Platinum blackout is the full job: grille, both rails, the cladding inserts down each side and any badges you want dark. On an Active it’s mainly the chrome grille bars. The ST-Line and Tremor carry Ebony Chrome, a dark chrome accent you can keep as it is or take to satin black.
What does an Explorer chrome delete cost?
It’s quoted per vehicle, and the shop doesn’t publish chrome delete prices. The figure comes from the pieces your trim has and how many of them you want covered.
The shop sorts the work into three levels, and on an Explorer they map roughly like this:
- Front and rear. The grille bars or surround, badges and any bright bumper trim. On an Active this is most of the chrome on the vehicle.
- Window trim. Ford’s trim pages don’t describe the window surrounds, so send a side photo and the shop will tell you whether yours are bright.
- Full blackout. Everything above plus roof rails, mirror caps and any remaining bright work, which on a Platinum means the long satin rails and the cladding inserts.
Anything that unclips, badges included, is taken off and wrapped all the way round, then refitted with proper clips, so no cut edge of vinyl shows. For the grille on its own, grille blackout explains the work and the radar question.
Can the roof rails come off instead of being wrapped?
Only when the SUV is ordered. Ford offers a Slick Roof Conversion on the 2027 Explorer that removes the standard rails, and the Platinum page lists it as an option alongside a black painted roof. On an Explorer that’s already built, wrapping the rails black is the reversible route, and the factory finish stays intact underneath.
If you’d like the whole roof black to match, that’s a separate vinyl job; the roof wrap page explains it.
Which Explorer parts should stay uncovered?
Three kinds. Anything in front of a driver-assist sensor stays bare, which is the shop’s rule for every grille it blacks out. A lit badge stays as it is: the illuminated Ford logo badge, an option on several 2027 trims, only works while light can pass through it.
The exhaust tips need a closer look. The shop wraps tips only where they’re chrome-plated plastic trim, so the quad tips on an ST or a Platinum get checked before they’re quoted. Ask about them when you send photos.
How do you book an Explorer chrome delete in Langley?
Photos make the quote quick: front, back and one side of the Explorer, with the year, trim and the black you prefer. You’ll hear back with a figure and a date to bring it in. Use the chrome delete quote form. If the front end is getting film too, Ford Explorer PPF can be planned at the same visit, and whether a chrome delete is reversible covers taking the vinyl off years from now.
