What does Ford Explorer window tint cost?
The rear package for an Explorer starts at $260 in LLumar ATC. That covers the rear door windows, the quarter glass beside the third row and the liftgate glass, which is everything behind the driver that BC lets you film.
| Explorer glass | From |
|---|---|
| Rear doors, third-row quarter windows, liftgate | $260 |
| The same glass in IRX or AIR ceramic | Quoted per package |
| Panoramic Vista Roof | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front doors | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield, from the inside | $200, not road-legal in BC |
Film is cut on the plotter from the pattern for your Explorer’s year and body, then heat-shrunk and fitted by hand, so no blade touches the glass or the trim. Two lifetime warranties apply, LLumar’s limited one for the film itself and the shop’s own for the fitting. If you’re adding the roof, ceramic film or removal of old tint, ask for one combined figure; bundled jobs usually come in under the list prices added together. The full menu sits on the window tint prices page.
How dark will tint look over the Explorer’s privacy glass?
Darker than the film’s number. Ford Canada’s 2027 trim pages list “Privacy Glass - Second, Third Row and Liftgate” as standard on the Active, ST-Line, Tremor, Platinum and ST, so on any new Explorer the rear glass is already tinted in the glass itself before film goes on.
The two layers multiply. Film that passes 20% of the light, laid on glass that passes 20%, leaves roughly 4%. Ford publishes no transmission figure for its privacy glass, so the honest way to choose is to look at the rear windows beside the clear front door glass in daylight and pick a lighter film than you would for clear glass.
Happy with how dark the Explorer’s glass already is, and only after less heat? That’s the case for LLumar AIR 80: the spec sheet puts it at 77% visible light with 60% IR energy rejection (IRER). Window tint versus factory privacy glass walks through the choice shade by shade.
Which Explorer trims have acoustic glass or a glass roof?
Ford separates the trims on both points. Four of the five 2027 trims list acoustic-laminate front-row side windows, and two make the panoramic roof standard:
| 2027 trim | Front-row side glass | Panoramic Vista Roof |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Not listed as acoustic | Optional |
| ST-Line | Acoustic laminate | Optional |
| Tremor | Acoustic laminate | Optional |
| Platinum | Acoustic laminate | Standard, with power shade |
| ST | Acoustic laminate | Standard, with power shade |
The acoustic glass is in the front doors, and those windows stay clear in BC whatever they’re made of, so it rarely changes an Explorer quote. If you’re curious anyway, read whether acoustic laminated side glass can be tinted.
The roof is a different matter. The Vista Roof is a large pane, and its power shade only helps while it’s closed; film works with the shade open. Roof film is priced on its own, and the sunroof and panoramic roof page explains how.
Can an Explorer have front-window or windshield tint in BC?
The front doors, no; the windshield, only the top 75 mm. MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film on side windows behind the driver, a strip at the top of the windshield, and the rear window when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides, which every Explorer does. The liftgate is therefore fine at any shade. The front-row windows are beside the driver, and laminated glass doesn’t change that.
Front-door film is available on request at $140, but it isn’t road-legal, and the shop says so before you decide: the usual ticket is $109, and police can order the film off and the Explorer through an inspection. Tinting front windows in BC has the details.
One Explorer-specific note for the windshield: NHTSA recall 25V730000 covers 56,841 US-market 2025 and 2026 Explorers, Lincoln Aviators and Lincoln Corsairs whose windshield glass may contain visible air bubbles, and dealers replace the windshield as necessary. Have that inspection done before a sun strip goes on.
How do you book Explorer tint in Langley?
Send the year and trim, say whether it has the Vista Roof, and choose ATC, IRX or AIR. The reply covers the rear package, what ceramic adds, and the Vista Roof if you’ve asked for it.
Most SUVs leave the same day, typically after two to four hours. Keep the rear door windows up for three to five days, and expect a faint haze in the first week that clears on its own. Request a price through the Explorer tint quote form or call 604 534 6433. If the paint is on your list too, Ford Explorer PPF covers the front end.
