Where is the chrome on a Mercedes-Benz GLC?
Along the front, the sides and the roof. Mercedes-Benz Canada says the GLC SUV has “shimmering chrome exterior elements”, naming the grille crossbar, the lower apron insert and the roof rails. The exact list depends on the generation and body.
| GLC | Bright pieces Mercedes names | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SUV and Coupe, 2020 to 2022 | Continuous chrome trim from front to rear as standard; AMG Line diamond grille with chrome pins and a chrome trim element on the rear bumper; a chrome strip on the Coupe’s high beltline | From Mercedes’s 2019 facelift release |
| GLC SUV, current | Grille crossbar, lower apron insert, roof rails | Per Mercedes-Benz Canada |
| GLC Coupe, 2024 on | Simulated chrome underguard | The Night Package turns the grille lamellas, mirrors, beltline and window trim high-gloss black; roof rails are black |
| Electric GLC, 2027 | Wide chrome frame around the grille, with a smoked glass-look mesh | Illuminated grille panel optional |
The older details come from Mercedes’s 2019 GLC release, which describes “continuous chrome trim elements from the front end to the rear as standard” on the facelifted cars.
What does Mercedes’s Night Package black out on a GLC?
On the 2024 GLC Coupe, a specific list. Mercedes-Benz USA’s Coupe pricing release says the Night Package brings high-gloss black elements to the front wing, grille lamellas, rear diffuser insert, exterior mirrors, beltline and window trim. Mercedes Canada describes the SUV version more broadly: add the Night Package to the AMG Line “and key elements become dramatic black”.
That package is chosen when the GLC is ordered. Vinyl gets a bright-trimmed GLC close to that look after purchase. Since cast film releases with heat, the factory chrome survives underneath for the day the GLC is sold. The chrome delete reversibility answer covers what removal involves.
How is the electric GLC’s lit grille handled?
With care, and only the frame. Mercedes calls the 2027 electric GLC the first model with its redesigned grille, which has “a wide chrome frame and smoked glass-look mesh structure” according to the launch release. The optional illuminated panel adds 942 backlit polycarbonate dots, and the central star and the grille’s outline light up too.
The chrome frame is the part a delete deals with; the lit dots, star and contour are lighting, so the shop talks through what can be covered before quoting. Mercedes also offers a factory answer: the 2027 quick reference guide lists AMG Line Plus with Night Package, with an iconic grille in a black frame and dark chrome accents. The general method for grilles, and why parts that hide a radar sensor stay bare, is on the grille blackout page.
Gloss or satin black on a GLC?
Gloss black matches Mercedes’s own Night Package parts, which the company describes as high-gloss black. Satin gives a flatter, more muted black.
Mercedes Canada notes that the GLC is offered in matte Magno paints as well as metallic and solid colours. Satin trim can sit more naturally against a Magno body, where a gloss strip would be the shiniest thing on the car; on gloss paint, gloss vinyl reads as a factory part. 3M and Avery Dennison both make each finish, and samples can be held up to your GLC’s paint before you decide.
How do you book a GLC chrome delete in Langley?
Start with the GLC’s year and body (SUV, Coupe or electric), note any AMG Line or Night Package, and photograph each shiny part up close: window trim, roof rails, grille, apron insert, badges. Your quote names every piece it includes and any it doesn’t.
By the shop’s published terms, the vinyl’s manufacturer warranty runs five years. If you’re tinting the windows too, GLC window tint has those packages, and both jobs suit the same visit. Send your GLC photos with the chrome delete form or phone 604 534 6433.
