Which bright trim does a GLE carry from the factory?
Quite a lot, and it moves around with each update. When Mercedes introduced the current GLE, its 2018 release said “the chrome surrounds of the windows are reminiscent of a premium sedan” and described a chrome-plated underguard at both the front and the rear.
| GLE | Bright pieces Mercedes names |
|---|---|
| 2020 to 2023 | Chrome window surrounds; chromed underride guard; Chrome Package standard; optional illuminated running boards with stainless steel inserts |
| 2024 to 2026 | Two grille louvres with chrome inserts; a horizontal chrome accent on the outer air intakes; on the AMG Line, a diamond grille with the Mercedes pattern in chrome and a chrome trim element in the AMG front fascia |
| 2027 | Grille star set in a bold chrome frame, optionally illuminated; chrome-framed star emblems in both taillights; a trim element joining the taillights |
| Current GLE, Canada | Roof rails clad in brushed aluminum, or coated black with the Night Package |
The 2020 details come from the 2020 GLE quick reference guide, the 2024 changes from the 2024 GLE release, and the 2027 details from the 2027 GLE release. The roof rail note is from Mercedes-Benz Canada’s GLE page.
What does the Night Package change on a GLE?
It’s the factory way to darken some of that trim, chosen when the GLE is ordered. Mercedes listed it as an option in the 2020 guide, and Mercedes-Benz Canada says the roof rails are coated black when the GLE has it.
Mercedes’s GLE releases don’t itemize everything the Night Package covers, so the simplest route is to photograph your GLE as it stands and let the quote cover whatever is still bright. On a GLE delivered with its chrome, vinyl gets you most of the way to that look, and the chrome is untouched underneath, because cast film comes away with heat when it’s time to sell. What taking it off involves is explained in whether a chrome delete is reversible.
Which GLE pieces can vinyl cover, and which stay bare?
Most of the long, flat brightwork is a good fit: the window surrounds, the roof rails, the grille louvres and the intake accents. The chrome-look underguard can be quoted too.
Three things stay bare or get a conversation first. Lamps, including the chrome-framed star emblems inside the 2027 taillights, aren’t part of a chrome delete. Any emblem or grille section with a sensor or radar behind it is left alone after the shop checks the vehicle; the reasoning is laid out on the grille blackout page. And the optionally illuminated chrome frame around the 2027 grille star is a lit part, so what’s covered there is agreed before quoting.
Gloss or satin black on a GLE?
Gloss black sits closest to Mercedes’s own black trim, such as the high-gloss black mirror base on the 2027 GLE. Satin gives a flatter, more understated black.
On a gloss GLE, gloss black blends in like an OEM part; satin tends to suit a matte wrap or satin paint better. The shop’s wrapped GLS keeps its chrome against a matte metallic body, a different choice shown on the GLS wrap project. Ask for swatches of each against the GLE’s paint; 3M and Avery Dennison offer both.
How do you book a GLE chrome delete in Langley?
Photograph the GLE’s window surrounds, roof rails, grille, intakes, underguard and badges up close, and send them with the year, the model and any AMG Line or Night Package. The reply itemizes which pieces get vinyl and which are left as they are.
The shop publishes a five-year manufacturer term for the vinyl used on a GLE. If you’re tinting the windows as well, GLE window tint has those packages, and the two jobs fit one visit. A GLE quote starts with the chrome delete enquiry form; you can also ring 604 534 6433.
