Mercedes-Benz GLS Chrome Delete in Langley, BC

At a glance

A GLS chrome delete covers the bright parts Mercedes puts on its biggest SUV, from the chrome-plated underguards front and rear to the strip above the tail lamps and the grille fins, in gloss or satin black 3M or Avery Dennison cast vinyl. Each GLS is quoted from photos. On 2020 to 2023 models, check Transport Canada's rear-door window trim recall before that trim is covered.

Where is the chrome on a Mercedes-Benz GLS?

At both ends, along the sides and around the lamps, and the list depends on the year. When Mercedes introduced the current GLS for 2020, its 2019 GLS release described a chrome-plated underguard in the front bumper, another rounding off the rear, and two-piece LED tail lamps “crowned by a slender, continuous chrome trim strip”.

GLS Bright pieces Mercedes names
2020 to 2023 Chromed underguards front and rear; chrome strip above the tail lamps; illuminated running boards with stainless steel inserts
2024 to 2026 Redesigned front underride guard; bumper intakes framed in high-gloss black; on the Maybach, vertical chrome grille bars and chrome-surround intakes
2027 Illuminated chrome grille surround with three horizontal chrome fins, one vertical fin and a chrome star pattern; a trim element with an integrated star joining the taillights; a standing hood star, optionally lit

The running boards come from the 2020 GLS quick reference guide, the 2024 facelift details from an April 2023 Mercedes release, and the newest grille from its March 2026 GLS release. Photograph the window line and roof rails as well, so the quote catches every bright piece on your GLS; window surround work is explained on chrome window trim delete.

Why check a recall before the GLS window trim is wrapped?

Because some GLS rear-door trim was recalled for not being attached properly. Transport Canada recall 2022-509 covers 2020 to 2022 GLE and GLS models: “the window trim on the rear doors may not be properly attached” and “could loosen and separate from the vehicle”. Recall 2023-151 extends it to 2022 and 2023 models.

Mercedes’s fix is a dealer inspection and repair if needed. Have that done before vinyl goes on the rear-door trim, so the piece being wrapped is secure, and keep the dealer’s paperwork with your delete invoice.

What does the Night Package already darken on a GLS?

Some of it. Mercedes-Benz USA says the Night Package “darkens key body details”, and the GLS 580 AMG Line Plus pairs it with 23-inch wheels. It doesn’t publish a part-by-part list, so the quote starts from whatever is still bright on your GLS.

On a GLS without the package, vinyl gets most of the way to that look, and the chrome survives underneath for resale. The shop’s own wrapped GLS made the opposite choice: matte grey body, chrome grille kept, as the GLS wrap project shows.

Which GLS parts stay bright?

Anything lit, anything with a sensor behind it, and the lamps. On the 2027 GLS the grille’s chrome frame has contour lighting and the hood star can be illuminated, so covering either changes how the SUV looks at night; the shop goes over those parts before quoting.

Mercedes’s 2027 GLS release also lists up to five radar sensors and ten cameras. Grille sections or emblems with a sensor behind them are left alone once the vehicle has been checked, and blacking out a grille explains why. Lamps themselves are never part of a chrome delete.

How do you book a GLS chrome delete in Langley?

Photograph the grille, both underguards, the strip above the tail lamps, the window line, roof rails, running boards and badges, and send them with the year, the model and any Night Package. Say whether the window trim recall has been done.

You’ll get an itemized reply listing what gets vinyl and what stays as it is. Vinyl on a GLS carries the manufacturer’s five-year term listed on the shop’s site, and tint can be added to the same booking through GLS window tint. Use the GLS chrome delete request form to send the details, or phone 604 534 6433.

Questions about GLS chrome delete

01Can the stainless inserts on the GLS running boards be blacked out?

They're stepped on every day, which wears vinyl faster than trim people only look at. Ask the shop to look at yours before adding them to the quote.

02My GLS is wrapped in matte. Should the trim go gloss or satin?

In the shop's view, satin black sits better against a matte or satin body, and gloss suits gloss paint. The shop holds both swatches up to the car before you choose.

03Is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS different?

Yes. Mercedes gives it a grille of vertical chrome bars with Maybach lettering and chrome-surround intakes, so its quote is built from its own photos.

04Can the chrome underguard be covered?

Yes, it can be quoted with the rest. It sits low at both ends of the GLS, so include close photos showing its condition.
