What does window tint cost on a Mercedes-Benz GLS?
A GLS uses the full-size SUV package: $260 in LLumar ATC for the glass behind the front doors, tailgate included. IRX or AIR ceramic on those windows is an upgrade priced per package, and the roof is quoted separately because of its size.
| GLS glass | What’s included | From |
|---|---|---|
| Rear glass | Second-row door glass, third-row side glass, tailgate window | $260 |
| Ceramic upgrade | IRX or AIR on that GLS glass | Quoted per package |
| Panoramic roof | The roof glass panels | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front doors | Driver’s and front passenger’s glass, full-size SUV rate | $160, fitted on request; not road-legal in BC |
| Whole windshield | Applied to the inner face | $200; BC allows only the top 75 mm |
The film is plotter-cut to the GLS pattern for your model year and fitted by hand with heat and a squeegee, with no blade on the glass or trim. LLumar’s lifetime limited warranty covers the film, and the shop covers its labour for life. Doing the whole SUV in one booking usually costs less than the separate prices; the window tint pricing page lists each package.
How much roof glass does a GLS have?
A lot, and it’s tinted from the factory. Mercedes-Benz Canada lists a standard panoramic sunroof, “a giant expanse of tinted glass”, with a power tilt-and-slide front panel, a power mesh screen underneath, and a roof that can close itself when it senses rain.
The 2027 GLS, announced in March 2026, keeps a large panoramic roof as standard. Mercedes’s 2027 GLS release puts it at more than 10.8 square feet of glass, roughly a square metre, with panels spanning the roof’s full width and length; the front section lifts and slides back over a fixed rear panel.
Mercedes publishes no light-transmission figure for that glass. Film multiplies with the tint already in it, so 20% film over glass passing 20% leaves about 4%; on a roof this big, near-clear AIR cuts heat without making the cabin any darker. The sunroof and panoramic roof tint page covers roof jobs.
Do rear sunshades replace film on a GLS?
No; they do different jobs. Mercedes made electric rear side-window sunshades a standalone option on the GLS 450 for 2022, per its 2022 GLS quick reference guide, and the 2027 GLS release says second-row passengers can work the window blinds from the rear MBUX remotes.
A shade blocks the view and the sun only while it’s raised. Film rejects heat and blocks more than 99% of UV whether the shade is up or down, which matters across three rows of passengers: Mercedes-Benz Canada says every GLS seats six or seven. The Skin Cancer Foundation notes that tempered side and back glass doesn’t block UVA effectively. If your GLS has the shades, say so when you book so the installer knows what’s fitted in those doors.
Which GLS windows can carry film under BC law?
Every pane from the second-row doors back, at any darkness. MVAR s. 7.05(8) lets film sit on any side window behind the driver, and on the back glass of a vehicle with outside mirrors left and right, which the GLS has. The windshield can take film only in its top 75 mm.
The GLS’s front door glass is a different matter. The shop fits it ($160) or a full windshield ($200) on request, but a GLS driven with either isn’t road-legal in BC: tickets typically run $109, and police can order the film off and the SUV inspected. That’s explained before you decide. The rules are on tinting front windows in BC, and how dark factory glass already is gets its own page on factory privacy glass.
How do you book GLS tint in Langley?
Send the year, the model (GLS 450, GLS 580 or AMG GLS 63), the seating layout, whether it has rear sunshades and which film you’re considering. You’ll get back the full-size SUV price, what ceramic adds, and a quote for the roof if you ask.
Plan on two to four hours for the side and tailgate glass; most GLS jobs are ready the same day. Leave the side windows closed for three to five days afterwards, and expect a faint haze in the first week while the film dries. For the paint, see GLS PPF. Book with the GLS tint quote form, or phone 604 534 6433.
