Which STEK films fit a BMW 3 Series?
Four versions of STEK light film. Each piece is shaped to the lens with heat and finished by hand; budget two to three hours per pair, at a price set for your car.
| Shade | What it does | How the shop uses it |
|---|---|---|
| 50% smoke | Darkens the lens lightly | Cars driven every day, or lamps with amber signals inside |
| 30% smoke | A strong, blacked-out look | Taillights and fog lights |
| Yellow | Gives white light a yellow tint | Front lamps |
| Clear | Leaves the look unchanged | Protection for the lens |
STEK film carries a 7-year term in the shop’s published terms, covering yellowing, cracking and peeling; STEK light film has the product detail.
How are the lamps on a 2019 to 2026 3 Series built?
BMW offered three headlight types on the G20, and all of them are LED. Its 2019 launch kit describes them as follows.
- Standard full-LED. LED units for the low beam, high beam, daytime driving lights and direction indicators, all in one headlight.
- LED with extended features. U-shaped daytime driving lights in the inner and outer lamps, plus a dynamic cornering light.
- Adaptive LED with BMW Laserlight. Hexagonal daytime light rings and blue L-shaped accents, with a high beam designed not to dazzle oncoming drivers.
- Fog lamps. Optional, horizontal, and set into the outer air intakes.
At the back, the kit describes “slim, stylishly darkened light units housing L-shaped LED taillights”, with reflectors in T-shaped trim pieces at the corners of the rear bumper on non-M Sport cars. Two consequences follow for film: a smoked standard headlight also darkens its turn signal, and a smoked taillight starts from a housing that’s already dark.
What is new about the 2027 3 Series’ lights?
Nearly everything. In its release for the eighth generation, BMW Canada sets out a horizontal light signature running almost the full width of the front, with pairs of vertical daytime driving lights on each side that also work as turn-signal repeaters.
- Lit kidneys. BMW Iconic Exterior Illumination traces the kidney grille in light with three animations, and it’s standard on M Performance models such as the M350 xDrive.
- Rear lights. “Markedly horizontal” lamps run deep into the rear shoulders, with two light elements on each side reworking BMW’s L shape in three dimensions.
New lamp shapes need their own film pattern, so the shop will confirm the 2027 car when you book. Film doesn’t belong over the illuminated kidney outline at all.
Will tinted lamps pass a BC inspection on a 3 Series?
They can fail. Under the lamp rules of BC’s 2025 inspection manual, Section 6 item 1.0(a), an inspector can reject a lamp if anything covers its lens (“covered in any manner”) or if the lens “reduces transmission of light”. Smoked or yellow film risks a failed inspection or a ticket, and clear film may be questioned as well.
Brake lights are the sharpest case, which whether taillight tint makes brake lights dimmer looks at, while are smoked taillights legal in BC covers the regulation. The shop explains this before fitting any smoke, and the film can come off before an inspection is due.
What do you need to book 3 Series light film in Langley?
Have ready the year, the headlight type (standard LED, extended features or Laserlight), the lamps to cover and the shade. Photos of the lamps help on a 2027 car.
Request a figure with the light film request form; texts go to 604 534 6433. Smoke on the taillights is often paired with a chrome delete, according to the shop; the trim side is on 3 Series chrome delete.
