How much is light film on a Nissan Z, and what does the job involve?
It’s quoted for your Z, and a pair of lamps takes two to three hours. STEK film is laid over each lens, warmed until it follows the shape and trimmed by hand; nothing is sprayed or painted, so the lamp underneath stays stock.
| STEK shade | What it does |
|---|---|
| 50% smoke | A light darkening that keeps more of the output; the shop’s pick for daily drivers |
| 30% smoke | A dark, blacked-out look, mostly chosen for taillights |
| Clear | Protects the lens from pitting without changing the look |
| Yellow | A tinted headlight look for show cars |
STEK light film comes with a 7-year manufacturer warranty, per the shop’s published terms, covering yellowing, cracking and peeling. Lamps with deep recesses take a little longer, since each piece is shaped by hand.
What lamps did Nissan design for the Z?
All-LED, with shapes taken from older Z cars. Nissan’s 2023 Z press kit says the LED headlights have “two half-circles” inspired by the Japan-only 240ZG of the 1970s, and that the rear combination lamps recall the Z32 300ZX of 1990 to 1996, with “new 3D signature LED taillights”.
| Lamp | What Nissan lists |
|---|---|
| Headlights | LED low and high beam, Intelligent Auto Headlights |
| Daytime running lights | LED |
| Taillights | LED rear combination lamps with a 3D signature |
| Mirrors | LED turn signal indicators in the housings |
| High beams | High Beam Assist on every 2024 Z |
The high-beam line comes from the 2024 Z NISMO press kit, which lists it among the standard driver aids on all 2024 grades, and the 2025 specifications repeat the LED lamp list. These are US-market documents, so check a Canadian car’s equipment with your dealer.
How dark should a Z’s taillights go?
Start at 50% if the car is your daily driver. The shop describes 50% as subtle and better for output, while 30% gives the full blackout look at the cost of brake lights that are harder to read in rain and spray on the Langley Bypass or Highway 1.
The taillights are what drivers behind you see every day, so check a sample against the lens before you commit. What smoke does to brake lights explains the trade-off, and the smoked taillights page describes the film.
Should the Z’s headlights get smoke or clear film?
Clear, if you want protection. Smoke cuts the light the headlights put on the road, on low beam and on the high beams that Nissan’s High Beam Assist switches on for you. Clear film keeps grit off the lenses without changing what you see at night; the clear headlight PPF page covers it.
Will a Z with tinted lamps pass a BC inspection?
Plan on it failing. The 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual turns down, under Section 6 item 1.0(a), any lamp whose lens “reduces transmission of light” or “is covered in any manner”. That catches smoke and yellow film on any lamp, and an inspector can question clear film too.
Before an inspection: if your Z faces a full inspection, for instance after arriving from another province or under a police order, take the light film off beforehand.
Smoked lamps can also draw a roadside ticket. The shop sets out this risk before quoting; are smoked taillights legal in BC has the detail.
How do you book light film for a Z in Langley?
Send the year, grade, which lamps you want done and the shade, ideally with a photo of the car’s rear. The reply is a price for those lamps.
Each pair takes two to three hours. Keep to hand washing or touchless bays, skip brush washes and keep pressure-washer tips away from the film’s edges. Book with the Nissan Z light film form, or text 604 534 6433.
