What does it cost to tint a Nissan Z?
The legal job on a Z starts at $220. That’s the sports coupe package in LLumar ATC dyed film, and it takes in both quarter windows and the hatch glass; IRX or AIR ceramic on those three panes is quoted when you ask.
| Nissan Z glass | Panes | From |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter windows and hatch glass, ATC | 3 | $220 |
| The same three in IRX or AIR | 3 | Quoted per car |
| Door windows | 2 | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Windshield from the inside | 1 | $200; only the top 75 mm is allowed |
Each pane’s film is plotted by computer from the Z’s own pattern and then heat-shrunk by hand, so no knife touches the glass or the black trim around it. The film has LLumar’s lifetime limited warranty, and the workmanship has the shop’s own lifetime warranty. Most cars are ready the same day.
Which windows on a Z can carry film?
Three: a quarter window behind each door, and the glass in the hatch. Nissan’s 2023 Z press kit calls out “the signature transition from the rear quarter glass to the low-slung position of the rear tail” as a styling point of the seventh-generation car, and lists 2-passenger seating.
Two seats changes the picture. On a four-seat coupe the quarter windows sit beside rear passengers; on a Z they sit beside the luggage space behind the seats, so dark film there is mostly about privacy and keeping sun off what you carry. Above the side glass runs what Nissan’s 2025 specifications call a black “katana” blade styling element, the trim the film is cut to meet.
How does the Z’s hatch change the rear glass job?
The back window is set in a lifting hatch rather than fixed above a trunk. Nissan lists the hood, doors and rear hatch as aluminum, describes the hatch as ultra-thin and opened and closed by hand, and fits a rear window defroster with a timer.
Film goes on the cabin side of that glass, laid over the defroster grid, after being shaped to the curve from outside. Performance cars add a rear spoiler where, in Nissan’s words, “the rear hatch and spoiler meet”; it sits outside the glass, so the film inside isn’t affected. If the film ever needs replacing, steam takes it off without scraping the grid; tinting over defroster lines explains why that matters.
Which LLumar film fits a Z?
Pick the shade for looks and privacy, then the film line for heat. Darker shades look alike across ATC and IRX, but IRX turns away far more of the sun’s energy, which counts on a small cabin with a big pane of glass behind your head.
| Shade on LLumar’s sheet | Light let through | Total solar energy rejected (TSER) | IR energy rejection (IRER) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATC 15 | 18% | 40% | 22% |
| IRX 15 | 20% | 59% | 61% |
| AIR 90 | 84% | 30% | 40% |
The figures are LLumar’s, from its performance data sheet on 6 mm clear glass, and every option blocks more than 99% of UV. Nissan doesn’t publish a light-transmission figure for Z glass, and film stacks on whatever tint the glass has, so judge a sample on the car. The coupe tint page lists every shade.
Can a Z have its door windows tinted in BC?
No. On a two-seater, both door windows sit next to an occupant, and MVAR s. 7.05(8) only lets film go on side windows behind the driver, the windshield’s top 75 mm, and the back glass of a car with mirrors on both sides. The Z has those mirrors, so the hatch glass is fine at any darkness.
Even clear film on the doors breaks the rule. A ticket is typically $109, and an officer can also require the film’s removal and an inspection. The shop does the $140 door job only on request, after setting out that risk; the front-window answer has the full rule.
How do you book Z tint in Langley?
Send the year and grade (Sport, Performance or NISMO), plus the film and shade you’re considering. You’ll get the $220 ATC figure and a ceramic figure for the same three panes.
Some haze or small water spots in week one are part of curing and go away by themselves. When the film needs cleaning, use a soft microfibre cloth and a cleaner without ammonia, and never a scraper. Book through the Nissan Z tint form, or text the shop at 604 534 6433.
