Tesla Model 3 Headlight & Taillight Tint in Langley

At a glance

For a Tesla Model 3, Brookswood Tint applies STEK smoke film to the taillights at 50% or 30%, and smoke, yellow or clear film to the headlights; each pair of lamps is two to three hours' work, priced for the car. On 2017–2023 cars, look up the August 2026 headlight recall first, because affected lamps are being replaced. Because BC inspections can reject a covered lamp, the shop walks through that risk with you first.

What does Model 3 taillight tint cost and take?

It’s priced for your car, and each pair of lamps is two to three hours’ work. The film is STEK: smoke at 50% if you want a hint of tint, 30% if you want it much darker, and yellow or clear for headlights.

Job Film options Time
Taillights STEK smoke, 50% or 30% About 2 to 3 hours
Headlights STEK smoke, yellow or clear About 2 to 3 hours
Both pairs Any mix of the above Quoted together

The shop’s published warranty gives STEK film seven years of cover if it yellows, cracks or peels; the film’s own page is STEK light film.

How do the Model 3’s lamps differ by year?

The headlamps come in types that have to match, and the 2024+ manual lists the rear reflectors separately. Tesla’s 2017–2023 manual describes two headlamp types, SAE and Global, and says both headlamps must be the same type with the car’s software set to match. If an SAE lamp is damaged, both sides are replaced with Global units. The same era’s rear lights include a combined fog and reverse lamp on each side alongside the taillights.

On the 2024+ car, Tesla lists the rear reflectors as their own part: the reflex assembly in each tail-light area is released by its three tabs from inside the trunk and pushed out. That matters for film, because a reflector is required equipment in its own right.

Which Model 3 lamp recalls should you check first?

Two, both filed in the US with NHTSA. Your VIN, entered at Tesla or in Transport Canada’s recall database, will show whether a Canadian car is covered.

  • 26V-507, filed August 2026. Covers 2017–2023 Model 3s: the low beams may be too bright and exceed the maximum light output allowed. Tesla Service will replace the headlights free of charge, with owner letters expected October 3, 2026.
  • 22V-844, filed November 2022. Covers 2023 Model 3s: a taillight could intermittently stay dark, on one side or both. The fix was a free over-the-air software update.

If your headlights are in the first recall, have them replaced before any film goes on, or the film leaves with the old lamps. For the second, confirm the update is installed and the taillights work every time before they’re covered.

Can a Model 3 with smoked lamps pass a BC inspection?

It can fail, and two items in BC’s 2025 manual bite here. Item 1.0(a) in its lamp section sets a reject for a lens “covered in any manner”, and for one that “reduces transmission of light”; item 3(a) sets one for a required reflector that’s obscured. Smoke film dims both, yellow film recolours a headlight, and even clear film can be questioned.

On a 2024+ Model 3, keep the separate reflectors in mind: film that runs over them adds a second reason to fail. The shop goes through this before you decide. The regulation behind it is set out under BC’s headlight film rules.

Questions about tesla Model 3 light tint

01Will smoke film make my Model 3's brake lights harder to see?

Yes. Smoke film passes only part of the light behind it, so the brake lights get dimmer, more so with 30% than 50%. That's the core of the inspection problem.

02Can I do the taillights only?

Yes. The rear pair can be filmed on its own; each pair is priced separately.

03Does the film change how the Model 3's headlights are aimed?

No. The film is applied to the outer face of the lens, so the lamp's aim stays where it was. It does dim or tint the beam, which is where the inspection risk comes from.
