How much is window tint on a Tesla Model 3?
The five panes behind the driver are $240 and up in LLumar ATC, the shop’s posted sedan rate. IRX or AIR on the same glass adds a per-package quote, while the roof panel and anything ahead of the driver are priced on their own.
| Glass | On a Model 3 | From |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan rear package, ATC | Both rear doors, both quarter windows, back glass | $240 |
| IRX or AIR ceramic | Those five panes | Quoted per package |
| Fixed roof glass | The panel between windshield and back glass | Quoted per car |
| Front doors | Driver and passenger glass | $140, but illegal on BC roads |
| Full windshield | Applied inside | $200, illegal under the top 75 mm |
Because the Model 3’s back glass is one large pane, the rear figure is confirmed for your year at quote time. The full list of class packages is on tint prices.
What’s built into the Model 3’s back glass?
A heater grid and the radio antenna wiring. When Tesla’s technicians remove the 2017–2023 back glass, they disconnect the glass heater’s ground strap, unplug the harnesses from the heater grid on each side, and free the antenna harnesses from the glass, with a caution not to damage the grid. The 2024+ Model 3 Standard’s back glass comes with the same warning about its heater grid.
That shapes two choices. First, film type: ATC is a dyed film and IRX and AIR are ceramic, so none of them is the metallized kind associated with signal trouble. Second, removal years from now: film on heated glass gets steamed off, never scraped, so the grid survives, as tint over defroster lines explains.
The glass itself is one big pane that needs heat-shaping by hand after the plotter cut. The photo on this page shows that kind of work on a Porsche’s curved rear glass.
Which other Model 3 windows can take film?
The rear doors, two small quarter windows and the roof panel. Each rear quarter window is a fixed pane bonded with urethane and framed by a piece of quarter brightwork, so it doesn’t move and the film sits inside a narrow outline.
Overhead, Tesla’s fixed roof glass procedure records the gaps from the roof panel to the windshield, the body sides and the back glass, so the roof panel sits directly between the windshield and the back glass. Roof film is quoted separately; glass roof tint covers how.
What does BC allow on a Model 3?
Film of any shade on the five panes behind the driver, nothing on the front doors, and only a top strip of 75 mm on the windshield. That’s the effect of MVAR s. 7.05(8), with the back glass allowed because the Model 3 carries a door mirror on each side.
Inspectors reject front door film of any shade, clear included, under item 13d of BC’s 2025 inspection manual, and police can write a ticket or order it stripped. The shop installs it solely at an owner’s request, once that’s been explained. If UV on the driver’s side is the reason you’re tempted, note how much Model 3 glass varies: in a 2025 study, the driver’s glass of a 2019 Model 3 stopped 81.25% of UVA, against 100% for a 2023 car. Neither result makes front film legal; front window tint in BC covers the rule.
How do you book a Model 3 tint in Langley?
Give the model year and trim, the film you’d like and whether to price the roof. A whole Model 3 usually goes home the day it comes in, after two to four hours’ work. The windows then stay shut for three to five days, and any light haze fades within a week.
