Audi Q5 PPF in Langley, BC

At a glance

What does PPF cost on an Audi Q5?

Between $850 and $4,000, depending on how much of the Q5 you cover. Those are floors, not fixed prices: the final figure follows the Q5’s size, the shape of its bumper and how much correction the paint needs before film goes on.

Package From Panels on a Q5 Typical stay
Partial Front $850 Bumper in full; front portions of the hood and fenders; headlights; mirrors About a day
Full Front $1,550 Full-width hood and fenders, bumper, headlights, mirrors 1 to 2 days
Track Package $1,900 Adds A-pillars, roof leading edge and rocker panels to the Full Front 1 to 2 days
Full Vehicle $4,000 All paintwork and both headlights 3 to 5 days

Platinum repairs its own light scratches, is cut by software to the Q5’s panels, and has its edges rolled around each panel where the shape permits. Bumpers sometimes need a relief cut, and its position is pointed out to you first. LLumar’s 10-year limited warranty stands behind Platinum Gloss; in the shop’s published terms, that covers yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling.

Where does a Q5 pick up stone chips?

At the front bumper and the leading edge of the hood first, since they meet the road head on, then along the lower body behind the front wheels. Audi’s design puts a lot of surface there: on the third generation, a rising line runs from above the sill over the wheel arches into the rear bumper, and air curtains steer air past the front wheels.

The S line exterior and the SQ5 add larger front air intakes shaped as aero tubes in an L-wing form, per Audi’s Q5 SUV launch release. More openings mean more edges for a template to follow, which is one reason an S line or SQ5 nose can price above a base Q5’s. For a Q5 that lives on Highway 1, the Track Package adds the rocker panels below the doors, which the Full Front leaves bare; partial versus full front PPF weighs the smaller packages.

What sits behind a Q5’s lower grille?

The front sensors. Audi’s launch release for the third-generation SUV says a large air intake “with sensors” sits under the Singleframe, and the Q5 Sportback release says the same intake “houses the sensors.”

That intake and its surround are the part of a Q5’s nose where the template matters most. Before any film is cut, ask the shop to show you where the Platinum will run around the intake on your exact year and trim, and where it will stop. The headlights are in every package, and on this generation they’re worth guarding: Audi gives the Matrix LED units up to eight selectable digital daytime light signatures, depending on equipment.

Is the arch trim on a 2018 to 2020 Q5 part of the film?

Not automatically. The cover trim around a second-generation Q5’s wheel arches is a separate part held on by clips, and PPF packages are built around the painted panels, so whether that trim gets film is a question to raise at the quote.

The trim has its own history. Transport Canada recall 2019-520 covers 30,567 Q5s from the 2018 to 2020 model years whose rear wheel arch cover trim may come loose, and dealers replace the four clips that hold its forward end. If you own one from those years, have the recall work done before the film goes on, so nobody is unclipping trim beside fresh film edges afterwards.

Gloss or matte film on a Q5?

Gloss keeps the paint looking as Audi delivered it; LLumar’s Platinum Matte turns gloss paint satin. Audi lists eleven colours for the third-generation Q5, from solid Arkona White to Daytona Grey pearl effect, with Daytona Grey, Ultra Blue and Sakhir Gold kept for the SQ5 or the S line exterior.

Matte film on a grey or black Q5 gives a satin look without changing the colour, and the film can come off later. The two finishes are compared on matte PPF.

How do you book Q5 PPF in Langley?

Send the year, SUV or Sportback, the trim (base, S line or SQ5) and the colour. The paint is decontaminated and, where it needs it, corrected before any film goes on.

Partial Front is usually a one-day visit; Full Front and Track take one to two days, and a full-body Q5 three to five. The first wash waits seven days. From then on it’s hand washing or a touchless bay, and the pressure washer stays away from the film’s edges. Request a figure through the Q5 PPF quote form or call 604 534 6433, and add the glass through Audi Q5 window tint if you want both done in one stay.

Questions about audi Q5 PPF

01Does an SQ5 cost more to film than a regular Q5?

It can. Audi gives the SQ5 and the S line larger L-shaped front intakes and a sportier diffuser, and more openings mean more template edges. The starting prices are the same; the quote follows your car.

02Will PPF hide the chips my Q5 already has?

No. Film protects the paint from new damage, but chips that are already there still show through clear film. Have them touched up or corrected first if they bother you.

03How soon should film go on a new Q5?

Before its first winter of highway driving if you can. Film can't undo chips that are already in the paint, so the earlier it goes on, the less there is to live with.
