At a glance

Paint protection film for a Volvo XC60 starts at $850 for Partial Front in LLumar Platinum; the other packages begin at $1,550 (Full Front), $1,900 (Track) and $4,000 (Full Vehicle). On a new XC60, the first step is the paint under Volvo's shipping cover: Volvo's own journal says milky patches left by it fade in daylight and must not be polished.

What does PPF cost on an XC60?

The cheapest package is $850 and the whole-car package starts at $4,000, all in LLumar Platinum. The XC60’s own quote comes from its panels, its trim and the state of its paint.

Package From What it covers Where it matters on an XC60
Partial Front $850 Full bumper, partial hood and fenders, headlights, mirrors The bumper face with its lower lamps, the headlights, the first band of the hood
Full Front $1,550 Full hood, full fenders, full bumper, headlights, mirrors No cut line across the hood or front fenders
Track Package $1,900 Full Front plus partial roof, A-pillars, rocker panels Adds the pillars beside the windshield and the sills below the doors
Full Vehicle $4,000 All painted surfaces and headlights Every panel, the rear bumper and tailgate included

Platinum is self-healing: fine swirls in its top coat level out with warmth from the sun or the engine. Choose gloss to keep the factory look, or matte if you want the paint to turn satin. LLumar’s 10-year limited warranty applies, and the shop’s published terms spell out the defects included: yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. The Partial Front package page explains where that package’s cut line falls.

What should happen to a new XC60’s paint before film?

It should be looked over once the shipping cover is off, and any milky marks are left to the sun, not a polisher. Volvo’s TJ 36277, which covers the XC60 built from the 2018 model year on, describes “milky stripes/white patch conditions in the paint when the rapgard or vehicle cover is removed.” Volvo’s instruction is not to polish, wax or repaint the area: 48 hours of outdoor daylight clears it, or careful infrared heat at 50–70 °C for 30 minutes.

That fits the shop’s own order of work. Paint is cleaned and decontaminated, thickness is measured, and correction only happens where the paint needs it. A patch from the transport film isn’t a defect to sand out, so it’s left to clear before the film goes down. Timing the install is covered in getting PPF on a new car right away.

Which parts of the XC60’s nose need attention under film?

The lamps. Volvo’s TJ 37235 notes that on the XC60 from 2018 to 2025 “the lower mounted front bumper lamps are used for both the cornering light and fog light function.” Those lenses sit low in the bumper, the first place stones arrive, so ask how they’re handled in the package you choose.

Higher up, some XC60s have headlamp washers. Volvo’s Service Journal 1000772 deals with the high-pressure headlamp cleaning pump on XC60s built from week 17 of 2017 to week 45 of 2020, a pump reached by taking off the left front wheel and the wheel arch liner. Headlights are filmed in every package, so mention washers when you ask for a price.

What changes at the back of an XC60?

The rear bumper skin, if a towbar is fitted. In Service Product Journal 34549, Volvo explains that the moulded cut lines in the bumper skin don’t suit the fixed or foldable hitch on the XC60 (18-), so a template is used to make the cut.

The rear bumper is only filmed under Full Vehicle, but if you’re heading that way, sort out the hitch first and tell the shop it’s there. The XC60 window tint page has the glass prices if you’d like both jobs done in one visit.

Booking XC60 PPF in Langley

Tell the shop the model year, the colour and the package you have in mind, either on the XC60 PPF quote form or by texting 604 534 6433. Partial Front is normally a one-day job; allow one or two days for Full Front or Track, and up to five for Full Vehicle.

The shop’s aftercare: no washing for the first week, then hand or touchless washes only, and keep any pressure washer nozzle back from the film edges. If you’re weighing film against a coating, PPF versus ceramic coating sets the two side by side.

Questions about XC60 PPF

01Is it worth filming a new XC60 straight away?

The sooner the better, because film protects the paint from the day it goes on and does nothing for chips that came before it. Just let any milky patches from the shipping cover fade in daylight first, as Volvo advises.

02Does PPF go over the XC60's headlights?

Yes. Headlights are part of every package, from Partial Front up. If your XC60 has headlamp washers, say so when you ask for the quote.

03How long does Full Front take on an XC60?

One to two days in the shop, including the paint prep. Partial Front is usually a single day, and Full Vehicle three to five.
