What does tinting an Acura MDX cost?
Everything behind the front doors comes to $260 and up in LLumar ATC. Ceramic on those same windows changes the package price, and the panoramic roof gets a separate quote.
| On the MDX | Film choice | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Second-row doors, third-row glass, tailgate | ATC (dyed) | From $260 |
| Second-row doors, third-row glass, tailgate | IRX or AIR (ceramic) | Package price on request |
| Panoramic moonroof | ATC, IRX or AIR | Priced per MDX |
| Two front doors | ATC, IRX or AIR | $140; illegal on BC roads |
| Whole windshield, applied inside | ATC, IRX or AIR | $200; road-legal in the top 75 mm only |
A plotter cuts the film to the MDX’s outline, then heat moulds each piece to its pane, so no knife is used on the car. Both film and labour are warrantied for life. Bundled work tends to price below the separate list figures, so ask what the rear glass and the roof cost done together. Film choices and other bodies are on the window tint page.
Why is the MDX’s roof worth a tint quote?
Because every one of them has a big one. Acura’s 2022 MDX launch release made the panoramic moonroof standard on all trims of the fourth generation, and noted that it gives the third row “a light and spacious feeling”. The 2026 specification sheet still lists it on all six US trims.
Acura’s feature page for that roof calls it ultra-wide, with power tilt and a power sunshade. The shade blocks light only when it’s closed. Film on the glass keeps working with the shade open, which is the point of a glass roof on a clear day. For pricing and fitting, see tinting a sunroof or panoramic roof.
Do the MDX’s sunshades replace rear tint?
No, they cover different moments. The 2026 sheet lists manual second-row side sunshades on every trim except the base MDX, and nothing similar for the third row or the tailgate.
A manual shade suits a napping toddler or a sun sitting low over the Fraser, but it’s either up or down, and it covers only the second-row doors. Film is on every rear window all the time, blocks over 99% of UV on each of them, and still lets you see out. LLumar’s film data puts IRX’s total solar energy rejection (TSER) at 50 to 62% against ATC’s 28 to 44%, so the ceramic upgrade is the one to price if the third row gets hot on long summer drives.
Which MDX windows can BC drivers tint?
Second-row, third-row and tailgate glass can take any shade you like, because the MDX has a mirror outside each front door. MVAR s. 7.05(8) is stricter up front: no film at all on the front door windows, and on the windshield nothing lower than 75 mm from its top edge.
The MDX’s front doors are worth a note. Acura lists an acoustic laminate windshield and front side glass on all six 2026 trims, but laminated or not, those windows sit beside the driver, so film there is not road-legal. Acura’s driver aids also lean on a forward-facing camera; for 2025, Acura’s rundown of the refreshed MDX describes a new front single-lens sensor camera. Film below the 75 mm band is illegal regardless, and tint and windshields with ADAS cameras covers how cameras and film get along. Should you still want front film, it’s installed only at your request, and only after the shop has walked you through the $109 ticket, a possible removal order and an inspection you’d fail.
How do you get an MDX booked in?
Send the MDX’s year and trim, your film choice and whether the roof should be included. Back comes a price for the rear glass, the ceramic difference, and a roof number.
Budget two to four hours at the shop. With the MDX home again, leave its door glass up for three to five days. Faint cloudiness that first week is moisture still leaving the film, and it clears without help. Ask through the MDX tint quote form, and look at Acura MDX PPF if the long hood needs protecting from gravel.
