What does tint cost on each BMW M8 body?
It depends on the body. The two-door Coupe is a sports coupe at the shop, from $220 for its three panes behind the doors. The four-door Gran Coupe has rear doors and is priced on the five-window sedan package, from $240. Both prices are in LLumar ATC dyed film.
| M8 body | Glass behind the driver | From |
|---|---|---|
| Coupe | Two rear side windows and the back glass | $220 |
| Gran Coupe | Rear door windows, any quarter glass and the back glass | $240 |
| Convertible | Glass behind the doors, checked from photos | Quoted per car |
| Any body, ceramic | IRX or AIR on the same panes | Quoted per car |
| Long front door windows | Both doors, on request | $140, and illegal to drive with in BC |
| Whole windshield | Film on the inside face | $200; on the road only the top 75 mm may carry film |
Every pane is cut on the plotter from the M8’s own pattern, so no knife touches the glass or seals, and then shrunk to the curve with heat. The film carries LLumar’s lifetime limited warranty, and the shop stands behind its installation for life as well. Other body classes are on the window tint price list.
Why is the Gran Coupe priced as a sedan?
Because it has a second pair of doors and more glass behind the driver. BMW Canada’s Gran Coupe release gives it a body 231 mm longer than the Coupe’s, a wheelbase 200 mm longer, and 195 mm more rear shoulder room, 180 mm more rear legroom and 89 mm more rear headroom. That’s a real back seat, and the rear door glass sits right beside it.
Two Gran Coupe details matter at the quote. BMW’s international press kit lists sun protection glass and electrically operated sun blinds for the rear side windows among the options, so some cars arrive with darker glass already. And the Canadian release says the multi-functional antenna is built into the rear glass. Mention both when you book; whether tint affects phone or GPS signal is answered separately.
Is there any roof glass on an M8?
No. BMW Canada’s M8 Coupe and Cabriolet release fits the Coupe with a carbon fibre roof as standard, to cut weight at the top of the car, and BMW’s press kit says the Gran Coupe’s roof is carbon fibre-reinforced plastic too.
The Convertible has a multi-layer insulated fabric soft top that BMW says retracts in 15 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. So on every M8 the tint job stays on the side and rear glass, with no roof panel to price. A Convertible is priced from photos taken with the top up, so the quote covers exactly the glass that car has.
What can be tinted on an M8 in BC?
All the glass behind the driver, at any shade. On the Coupe that’s the two small side windows and the back glass; the long door windows are front side windows and can’t take film. On the Gran Coupe it’s the rear doors, any quarter glass and the back glass.
MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film on side windows behind the driver, on back glass when the car has outside mirrors on both sides, and only in the top 75 mm of a windshield. Clear film counts as film. If you want the door glass ($140) or the whole windshield ($200) done, the shop will do it, but the M8 isn’t road-legal like that: a ticket typically costs $109 and police can order the film off and the car inspected. You’ll hear that before anything is cut. More on tinting front windows in BC.
Which LLumar film suits an M8?
For darker glass at the starting price, ATC, a colour-stable dyed film that rejects 28 to 44% of total solar energy (TSER) on LLumar’s performance data sheet. For heat control, IRX nano-ceramic at 50 to 62% TSER. To keep the glass looking factory, AIR 80, which lets through 77% of visible light and rejects 60% of infrared energy (IRER).
All three stop over 99% of UV, which matters to whoever sits in the Gran Coupe’s back seat. The ceramic window tint page goes deeper on IRX and AIR.
How do you book M8 tint in Langley?
Send the year, the body and whether the car has sun protection glass, along with the film you’re leaning towards. The reply covers the package price for that body and the ceramic difference.
A Coupe or Gran Coupe usually goes home the day it comes in. Keep filmed windows shut for three to five days while the adhesive cures, and don’t worry about faint haze in the first week; it dries out. M8 PPF can go into the same visit if the paint needs it.
