What’s the price to tint a BMW X3?
For an X3, the SUV rear package in LLumar ATC is the $260 starting point. Choosing ceramic for the same windows means a package quote, and roof glass is priced for your X3.

Is your X3 the 2018 to 2024 model or the new one?
It matters, because the glass changed. BMW Canada’s 2018 X3 release introduced the third generation, known as the G01. Its 2025 X3 release introduced the fourth, the G45, with a Canadian launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The new X3 is 34 mm longer and 29 mm wider than the G01, and 16 mm lower, at 4,755 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall. A body that different means different window shapes, so the shop needs the model year before it cuts. The badges changed as well: the G45 is the X3 30 xDrive or X3 M50 xDrive, where the G01’s M Performance model was the X3 M40i.
How is the X3’s back glass framed?
By a roof spoiler on both generations. BMW’s 2018 release mentions the G01’s “downward-sloping roof spoiler” at the top of the tailgate. On the G45, “the flush-mounted rear window is bordered by a long roof spoiler and the adjoining side air deflectors”.
Tint is applied to the cabin side, so nothing outside, spoiler or deflectors, is disturbed. Inside, the installer fits the film to the visible glass and settles it over the defroster lines with slip water and heat. MVAR s. 7.05(8)(c) allows any shade on the X3’s back window, since the X3 has outside mirrors on both sides.
How much roof glass does an X3 have?
On a G01 with the panoramic option, a lot. BMW’s 2018 release offered a panoramic glass moonroof “250 mm longer” than before, a big pane overhead for a compact SUV, and film for it is quoted separately from the rear glass.
Roof film works every hour the sun is up and cuts UV by more than 99%, as all the shop’s films do. In LLumar’s spec data, IRX’s TSER (total solar energy rejected) reads 50 to 62% and ATC’s 28 to 44%, which makes IRX the one to price for a roof in a Langley summer. Which X3 windows can legally take film in BC?
Side windows behind the driver and the tailgate window can be any darkness. The front door glass can’t take film at all, and the windshield only above a line 75 mm down from the top.
BMW gave the G01 a “75 percent larger” full-colour Head-Up Display, and the G45 offers an optional one; either way, the projection sits well below the band BC allows for film. Owners who still ask for front-door or full-windshield film get it only after the shop explains the catch: illegal on BC roads, a typical $109 ticket, a possible order to strip it, and a failed inspection if one is ordered. What does the shop need to quote an X3?
The model year, the model name and whether the roof is glass. Mention whether the back windows already look darker than the front doors, since film adds to any tint in the glass; window tint vs factory privacy glass explains the difference.
