What does HR-V window tint cost?
$260 covers the HR-V’s rear set in LLumar ATC. Switching those windows to ceramic IRX or AIR is a per-package quote, and the moonroof has its own price.
| HR-V glass | From | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rear doors, quarter glass if fitted, tailgate window | $260 | LLumar ATC dyed film |
| Rear set in ceramic film | Quoted for the package | IRX or AIR |
| Moonroof (Sport and EX-L) | Per-vehicle quote | Priced on its own |
| Driver and front passenger windows | $140 | Illegal on BC roads |
| Windshield, whole | $200 | Legal only within the top 75 mm |
HR-V film comes off the shop’s computerized plotter already cut to the model’s window shapes, so nothing is trimmed with a knife on the car; it’s then heat-shrunk and laid by hand. The film has LLumar’s lifetime limited warranty and the installation has the shop’s. Allow two to four hours. A ceramic upgrade or the roof booked in the same visit is normally priced below the separate figures added up, and the full tint price list shows every package.
How dark is the HR-V’s rear glass before any film?
On a 2026 or newer HR-V, already darker than the front doors. Honda Canada’s 2026 HR-V launch release lists “Privacy rear glass now standard on all trims”, so on an earlier HR-V the trim decides whether the back glass came tinted.
Honda publishes no figure for how much light that glass passes, so a shade chart can’t predict the finished look. The film’s figure and the glass’s figure multiply: 50% film on glass passing 30% ends up near 15%. Check your rear windows in daylight first. If the factory darkness is already enough, AIR is the film that cuts heat while leaving the look almost unchanged. On an older HR-V, compare the rear glass with the front doors, and see window tint versus factory privacy glass for what each layer does.
Which HR-V trims have a moonroof?
The Sport and the EX-L. Honda Canada’s 2027 HR-V specifications show the moonroof (one-touch, power, tilt and slide) on those two trims and leave it off the LX.
Honda’s US moonroof page describes “a manually operated sliding sunshade” for bright or hot days. That shade helps only while it’s closed over the glass; film keeps working when it’s open, which is when the sun actually comes in. Roof film is quoted separately, and tinting a sunroof or glass roof explains the fitting.
What’s on the HR-V’s tailgate glass?
A rear wiper and a defroster grid. Honda’s 2026 US features by trim lists an intermittent rear-window wiper/washer, a rear-window defroster and rear privacy glass from the base LX up.
Film is applied to the inside of that glass, across the heater lines, and the wiper on the outside is left alone. The grid matters later: worn film on rear glass must be steamed off, not scraped, or the lines can be cut. The tailgate window can legally take film in BC because the HR-V carries a mirror outside on each side, the condition the regulation sets for a rear window.
Can an HR-V have tinted front windows in BC?
No. In BC, MVAR s. 7.05(8) confines film to the side windows aft of the driver’s seat, a rear window with mirrors on both sides, and the windshield’s top 75 mm. The HR-V’s front door glass is next to the driver, so any film there breaks the rule, however light.
The windshield strip has a second limit on this car. Since the 2023 redesign the HR-V has used a single-camera Honda Sensing suite with a 100-degree field of view, according to Honda Canada’s 2023 HR-V release, and Honda says collision braking “uses a windshield-mounted camera to detect objects ahead” (CMBS feature page). A strip must stay clear of it. Front-door film can still be booked, but the shop explains first that it isn’t road-legal, that tickets typically carry a $109 fine and that police may order the film off and the HR-V inspected. The front-window question in BC is answered in full there.
How do you book HR-V tint in Langley?
When you ask, include the model year, the trim (LX, Sport or EX-L), which film appeals, and whether the roof is included. The year tells the shop whether factory privacy glass is already there.
Most HR-Vs leave the same day. Keep the rear side windows up until the film has cured, usually three to five days; a light haze in the first week clears as it dries. Ask for a price on the HR-V tint quote form, and if the paint needs protecting as well, see Honda HR-V PPF.
