What’s included in the $240 K5 price?
Both rear door windows, any quarter glass and the back window, in LLumar ATC dyed film. That is the shop’s sedan rear package; IRX or AIR ceramic on the same glass is quoted per package.
| K5 job | Glass | From |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan rear package, LLumar ATC | Rear doors, any quarter glass, back window | $240 |
| IRX or AIR ceramic | The same glass | Quoted per package |
| Panoramic sunroof, GT-Line or GT | Roof glass | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front door windows | Driver’s and front passenger’s | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield, from the inside | 1 | $200, against Kia’s advice; top 75 mm legal only |
Film is cut on the plotter to the K5’s pattern, shrunk to the curve of the back glass with heat and fitted by hand, with a lifetime warranty on the film and the labour. Sedans in general are covered on the sedan window tint page.
Why does a K5’s rear glass start out lighter?
Because Kia doesn’t list privacy glass for it. The 2027 K5 spec chart gives every trim, LXS, GT-Line and GT, “solar control glass on the windshield, front, rear windows and back glass” to cut heat build-up, and has no privacy glass line.
With no factory darkening behind the driver to stack with, the shade you pick shows up closer to its tested value than it would on a tinted SUV pane. On LLumar’s spec sheet, ATC 35 measures 38% visible light and ATC 50 measures 60%, while IRX 35 lets through 39% and rejects 54% of total solar energy (TSER). Real glass shifts those figures a little, so treat them as a guide; what tint percentage you should get helps narrow it down.
Does the K5’s C-pillar trim recall matter for tint?
Not for the film itself, but check it anyway. NHTSA recall 25V-493 covers 2023 to 2025 K5s whose “left and right rear window trim pieces may loosen and detach”, and dealers inspect and replace the C-pillar trim assemblies as needed. The filing counts more than 100,000 cars.
That trim sits on the outside of the body beside the rear glass, while the film goes on the inside, so the two jobs don’t collide. A loose piece is still a road hazard, so book the free dealer fix if your VIN is listed.
What do the K5 GT-Line and GT add to the glass?
Laminated front door glass and, optionally on the GT-Line, a glass roof. Kia’s 2027 chart lists “sound-absorbing front door window glass”, described as noise-reducing laminated glass, on those two trims and not on the LXS. The panoramic sunroof is optional on the GT-Line and standard on the GT, and the owner’s manual pairs it with a power sunshade.
A sunroof adds its own line to the quote. The laminated front doors make no difference to the law below: they are still the driver’s and passenger’s windows.
What can go on a K5’s windshield and front doors in BC?
Very little, and Kia would rather nothing went on the windshield. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist section of the 2025 K5 manual says “never install any accessories or stickers on the front windshield, or tint the front windshield”, because the front camera looks through it. BC separately caps any windshield film at the top 75 mm.
MVAR s. 7.05(8) also bars film on the front side windows, clear included. If you want them filmed regardless, it’s $140, and the shop will first spell out the ticket and removal order you’d be risking. The front windows answer lays out the fines and the inspection item.
How do you book K5 tint in Langley?
For a K5, the shop needs the model year, the trim, your film choice and whether there’s a panoramic sunroof to include. Most sedans are ready the same day, and the windows stay up for three to five days.
