What line items should a PPF quote have?
Eleven lines cover it: film, finish, panels, prep, existing damage, old film, cutting method, edges, time, warranty and price with tax. Here’s what each should say, and how Brookswood Tint answers it.
| Line on the quote | What it should say | Brookswood Tint’s answer |
|---|---|---|
| Film line | The maker and product, not just “premium film” | LLumar Platinum |
| Finish | Gloss or matte | Either; matte turns gloss paint satin |
| Panels | Each panel, full or partial | Listed per package; see the next section |
| Paint prep | What’s included and what’s extra | Decontamination always; correction quoted by stage |
| Existing chips and repairs | How they’re handled before film | Raise them when you book; clear film shows what’s under it |
| Old film | Whether removal is needed and priced | Quoted on the car |
| Cutting method | Templates or hand-trimmed on the car | Software-cut templates for the exact vehicle |
| Edges | Wrapped or stopped short; where relief cuts go | Wrapped where the panel allows; relief cuts shown before work starts |
| Time in the shop | Days, not “a while” | Partial Front about 1 day; Full Front and Track 1 to 2; Full Vehicle 3 to 5 |
| Warranty | Who backs it, how long, what’s covered | LLumar 10-year limited; covered faults per the shop: yellowing, cracking, bubbling, peeling |
| Price and tax | A figure, and whether tax is in it | Starting prices before tax; final figure set by size, panels and paint |
Why does the panel list matter more than the package name?
Because package names aren’t standard, and the panel list is what you’re paying for. “Full front” at one shop can stop short of the fender edges at another, and a partial hood can mean a narrow strip or most of the panel.
LLumar’s PPF FAQ makes the same point from the pricing side: owners can protect every painted surface or only the areas that take the most punishment, and “these choices will affect pricing.” At Brookswood Tint the four packages are defined by panel:
- Partial Front, $850: the bumper in full; the hood and fenders in part; both headlights and mirrors.
- Full Front, $1,550: the hood, fenders and bumper in full, plus both headlights and mirrors.
- Track Package, $1,900: Full Front coverage, extended to the A-pillars, the rockers and part of the roof.
- Full Vehicle, $4,000: all painted surfaces and the headlights.
All are starting prices. Headlights are filmed in every package; if the car is headed for a BC inspection, mention it, because the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual treats any lamp lens “covered in any manner” as a reject, and an inspector could raise clear film too. On a Partial Front quote, ask how far up the hood and fenders the film reaches; the visual trade-off is covered in partial vs full front PPF.
What paint prep and paint history should the quote spell out?
The prep that’s included, the correction that isn’t, and anything about the paint that changes the warranty. These are the lines most often left vague, and they move both the price and the result.
Cleaning and correction
LLumar’s FAQ warns that wax and coatings applied before film can get in the way of adhesion. Every Brookswood Tint PPF job starts with decontamination. Correction is separate and staged. An enhancement polish is about a day of work and two-stage correction runs one to two days; a multi-stage restoration takes three days or more and is quoted after inspection. Paint thickness is measured before any polishing. The stages are explained on paint correction.
Chips, repaints and carbon fibre
A quote should note anything LLumar treats differently. Its FAQ ties Platinum’s warranty to original paint, excludes problems with refinished panels, and gives 30 days as the normal gap between a respray and film. It also says carbon fibre isn’t considered OEM paint, so film on it isn’t eligible for warranty coverage. Existing chips stay visible under clear film, so the quote should say whether they’ll be repaired first or filmed as they are.
How should a quote describe edges, seams and relief cuts?
It should say whether edges are wrapped and where any relief cuts or seams will sit. Those details decide how visible the film is and where it’s most exposed to washing.
At Brookswood Tint, every piece comes off a software template for your exact vehicle, which keeps blades away from the paint. Edges are wrapped around the panel wherever its shape allows. Where a bumper needs a relief cut, its location is pointed out to you first. Why seams exist at all is explained in why PPF has seams.
What should the warranty part of a PPF quote say?
The maker, the term, what’s covered and what isn’t. “Lifetime protection” with no document behind it isn’t a warranty.
For Platinum, LLumar’s product page states a 10-year limited warranty, with restrictions, and refers owners to the dealer for details. The shop names four covered faults: yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. LLumar’s FAQ adds exclusions worth knowing: film lifted by pressure washers or automatic washes, repaired paint, and carbon fibre. Whether the warranty passes to a later owner isn’t something the shop can confirm, so get any answer on that in writing. The shop’s terms are on the warranty page.
How do you compare two PPF quotes fairly?
Line them up only after the film, finish, panels, prep, warranty and tax match. Once they do, what’s left is labour, and that’s where installers really differ.
If one quote is far lower, check the lines first: a different film line, a partial hood described as full, correction left out, or tax added at the end. Then look at the work itself, using the questions in our guide to choosing a film installer.
How do you get a detailed PPF quote from Brookswood Tint?
Send the year, make, model and colour, the package you’re considering, gloss or matte, and a note on any chips or repainted panels. Replies come during shop hours, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 17:00.
Starting prices are before tax, and the final figure reflects the vehicle’s size, the complexity of its panels and the paint’s condition; the full breakdown is on PPF cost in Langley. Request yours through the paint protection film quote page, or call 604 534 6433 (texts welcome).
