BMW M8 Ceramic Coating in Langley, BC

At a glance

Ceramic coating on a BMW M8 at Brookswood Tint is priced for that car after the paint has been measured, in one of three graphene-ceramic packages: Essential with one layer, Performance with two over a two-stage correction, or Signature with four over full correction. The car stays one to three days. An M8 needs more than a paint plan, since BMW sells it in silk-matte Frozen colours and gives most bodies a carbon fibre roof.

How is an M8 coating priced?

Per car, once the paint has been inspected and its thickness measured. The package decides how many layers go on and how much correction happens first; the M8’s colour, finish and condition decide the rest.

M8 package Layers of graphene-ceramic Correction first What gets coated
Essential One Whatever the paint check shows The paint
Performance Two A two-stage correction Paint, glass and the wheel faces
Signature Four Full correction Paint, PPF, trim, glass and wheels

Expect the M8 to stay one to three days, and keep it dry for 24 hours after you collect it. Add-ons include wheel and caliper coating, glass coating and interior leather and fabric protection. Gloss paint is corrected before anything goes on; the paint correction page explains the stages.

What does a Frozen M8 need instead?

A matte routine. BMW Canada’s 2022 M8 update added four Frozen finishes that BMW calls silk-matte: Frozen Pure Grey, Frozen Deep Grey, Frozen Deep Green and Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic. The 2020 launch palette already had Frozen Bluestone metallic.

Polishing a flat finish puts shine into it, so a Frozen M8 skips the machine correction that Performance and Signature are built on. What goes on has to be a coating designed for flat paint, and the car gets its own price. The steps are on ceramic coating for matte paint.

Does the coating cover the M8’s carbon and Black Chrome parts?

It can, on the Signature package, which is the one that lists trim. BMW Canada’s launch release gives the M8 Coupe a carbon fibre roof as standard, finishes the kidney grille and side gills in Black Chrome, and puts high-gloss black on the mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser. BMW’s Gran Coupe press kit says the four-door’s roof is carbon fibre-reinforced plastic too.

The optional M Carbon package adds carbon grille surrounds, mirror caps, gills, spoiler and diffuser sections. Those surfaces sit right beside the paint and get the same road grime and the same washes, so leaving them uncoated means they bead and clean differently from the panels around them. Point out every carbon part at drop-off. Satin or matte pieces get no machine polishing.

Which M8 colours are gloss, and does that change anything?

Most of them. At launch BMW offered Alpine White, seven metallics including Black Sapphire, Brands Hatch Grey, Marina Bay Blue and Motegi Red, and BMW Individual colours such as Dravit Grey and Aventurin Red. The 2022 update added Skyscraper Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Isle of Man Green and Individual Tanzanite Blue.

All of those take the normal packages. Dark metallics show swirls and wash marring most clearly, so the depth of correction under the coating matters more on a black or dark grey M8 than on Alpine White. Coating a black car goes into why.

How do you book a coating for an M8 in Langley?

Send the year, the body, the paint name (say if it’s Frozen), and whether the car has PPF or the M Carbon package. You’ll hear back with a recommended package and a figure for your M8.

If film is also on your list, book it first; M8 PPF sets out those packages, and coating over PPF explains why the order matters. For a new colour instead of a new shine, see M8 wraps. Ask through the M8 coating enquiry or phone 604 534 6433.

Machine correction like this comes before a coating on gloss paint. Frozen matte paint skips it.

Questions about BMW M8 ceramic coating

01Should an M8 be coated before or after PPF?

After. The film goes on first and the coating goes over the film and the paint together; Signature is the package that lists PPF among its surfaces.

02Can the M8's forged wheels be coated too?

Yes. Performance includes the wheel faces, Signature covers the wheels more fully, and wheel and caliper coating is also sold as an add-on.

03Does the Convertible's fabric roof get coated?

The packages are written for paint, film, wheels, glass and trim, and a fabric top isn't one of them. Ask about the soft top separately when you book.

04Is Black Sapphire harder to coat than a light colour?

It isn't harder to coat, but black shows every swirl, so the correction underneath matters more. The paint check decides how much is needed.
