How is a Mustang ceramic coating priced?
Per car, from the paint you bring in and the package you pick. The shop publishes no coating prices; what moves the quote is how much correction the paint needs, how many layers go on and which add-ons you choose.
| Package | Layers | Prep before coating | Surfaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | 1 | Decontamination, clay and a machine polish | Paint |
| Performance | 2 | Two-stage correction | Paint, wheel faces, glass |
| Signature | 4 | Full correction | Paint, PPF, wheels, glass, trim |
On top of any package you can add coating for the wheels and calipers or the glass, plus protection for leather and fabric inside. Plan on one to three days in the shop, most of it correction and curing, then keep the car dry for 24 hours after you collect it.
Which Mustang finishes does the coating have to suit?
Quite a range. Ford Canada’s 2026 pages list gloss paints, matte and semi-gloss stripes, low-gloss wheels and bare carbon fibre, and one Mustang can carry several of them:
| Finish | Where Ford uses it on the 2026 Mustang |
|---|---|
| Tri-coat and tinted clearcoat paint | Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat and Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, both extra-cost |
| Gloss, semi-gloss and matte stripes | Over-the-Top Racing Stripe options on the EcoBoost and GT: gloss grey with semi-gloss black, matte black with red accent, or opacity fade |
| Low-gloss and anodized trim | Dark Horse wheels in Tarnished Dark low gloss and mirror caps in Tarnished Dark anodized |
| Carbon fibre | A carbon fibre hood vent on the Dark Horse SC, with exposed carbon fibre wheels optional |
| Painted black roof | Optional on EcoBoost, GT and Dark Horse SC models |
Gloss paint, the painted black roof included, is polished and coated like any other panel. Matte and semi-gloss surfaces are different: machine polishing would put a shine on them, so correction stops at the stripe’s edge. Say which stripe your car has when you ask for a quote, so the plan covers each surface the right way.
Does a Mustang need paint correction before it’s coated?
Some polishing, always. Even Essential starts with a decontamination wash, a clay treatment and a machine polish, because the coating needs clean paint to bond to. Performance adds a two-stage correction and Signature a full one, and the shop measures paint thickness before any of it.
The reason is simple: a coating is clear, so swirls left in the paint stay visible beneath it. Darker Mustang colours such as Shadow Black and Carbonized Grey Metallic show that most, which is why paint correction before ceramic coating is worth reading before choosing Essential on a dark car.
Can the coating cover a Dark Horse’s wheels and brakes?
Yes, as an add-on, or as part of Signature. Ford’s Dark Horse page lists Brembo six-piston front calipers as standard, with optional Brembo calipers in black, red or Notorious Blue, and Tarnished Dark or Sinister Bronze wheels. Brake dust bakes onto both, and a coated surface releases it more readily at the next wash.
The shop’s wheel and caliper coating is priced on top of the paint package, and wheel coating explains what it covers and how it’s done.
How do you book a Mustang coating in Langley?
Send the year, trim and colour, which stripe package the car has, and whether it wears paint protection film. Say which package you’re leaning towards and any add-ons. The shop inspects the paint, measures it and confirms the price and days.
A coating won’t stop stone chips, so if the nose is your worry, add Ford Mustang PPF first and coat over it. Thinking of a colour change instead? Ford Mustang wraps cover that. Ask for your figure through the coating quote form.
