How is a CX-90 ceramic coating priced?
Per vehicle, after inspection. The shop measures the paint’s thickness and looks at it under light, then recommends a package, because the polishing a CX-90 needs before coating varies more than the coating itself.
| CX-90 coating package | What the shop does | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | One graphene-ceramic layer | The paintwork |
| Performance | Two layers after a two-stage correction | Paint, glass and the wheel faces |
| Signature | Four layers after a full correction | Paint, film, glass, wheels and trim |
A coating takes one to three days in the shop, and the package decides where in that range a CX-90 falls. Any package can also take wheel and caliper coating, glass coating or interior protection. How the graphene-ceramic system works is on the ceramic coating page.
Which CX-90 colours carry a premium paint charge?
Five of the eight. Mazda’s 2026 CX-90 specification deck marks these with a premium paint charge: Rhodium White Premium, Machine Gray Metallic, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Polymetal Gray Metallic and Artisan Red Premium. Jet Black Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica and Platinum Quartz carry no charge.
Artisan Red is the one Mazda singles out. Mazda Canada says it developed a pigment for the CX-90 that “requires fewer coats” while giving more radiance. Whichever colour you have, a coating locks in the finish as it stands on the day, so swirls on Jet Black or haze on Soul Red are corrected first under Performance or Signature. Whether that step is needed on your paint is covered in paint correction before ceramic coating.
Which CX-90 trim needs different handling?
The piano black and the bright pieces. Mazda’s deck lists piano black pillar and sail garnish on most 2026 trims, a piano black grille on several, and on the blacked-out Premium Sport versions, piano black mirror caps and roof rails with a black chrome signature wing. Other trims get a chrome wing and satin chrome roof rails.
Mazda’s exterior maintenance section warns against steel wool, abrasive cleaners and strongly alkaline or caustic detergents on chrome-plated or anodized aluminum parts, because they can damage the protective coating. Gloss black plastic, for its part, tends to show fine wash marks in low sun. The Signature package coats trim as well as paint, which makes both easier to clean without scrubbing.
The wheels differ too. Mazda Canada gives the PHEV GT 21-inch alloys with machined, polished spokes and dark painted pockets, where brake dust collects; the wheel coating option is quoted on top of any package.
What does Mazda say about the cameras and the liftgate?
Two things to know before anyone details a CX-90. The manual’s camera section says the camera covers are hard plastic and that oil film remover, solvents, wax and coating agents shouldn’t go on them; if any does, wipe it off right away with a soft cloth. Tell the shop which cameras your trim has, since upper trims add front and side cameras for the 360° View Monitor.
The second is the hands-free liftgate. Mazda says to switch it off in Mazda Connect while washing or waxing, or to keep the key away from the back of the SUV, so the liftgate doesn’t open unexpectedly. That applies at home after the coating as well.
How do you book a CX-90 coating in Langley?
Send the year, trim and colour, and say whether the SUV has PPF or is getting it, because film goes on before the coating. The shop inspects the paint, measures it and quotes a package.
Allow one to three days, then keep the CX-90 dry for 24 hours after pickup. Ask through the ceramic coating quote form, and look at Mazda CX-90 PPF if the front end needs chip protection first.
