What does it cost to tint a Mazda CX-90?
$260 is the starting price for the CX-90’s rear glass in LLumar ATC, which is the shop’s SUV rear package. Moving up to IRX nano-ceramic or AIR clear ceramic is priced per package, and the roof glass gets its own quote.

Each piece is cut on the plotter from the CX-90’s own pattern, then shrunk to the curve of the glass with heat, so no blade touches the glass or the trim. How dark is the CX-90’s rear glass before film goes on?
Already dark. Mazda’s 2026 CX-90 specification deck lists “privacy glass - rear side windows and rear liftgate glass” as standard on all nine US trims, from the 3.3 Turbo Select to the PHEV Premium Plus. Mazda doesn’t publish a light-transmission figure for it.
That matters when you pick a shade. Film and factory tint multiply rather than add: if the glass passed, say, 20% of the light, a 20% film over it would leave roughly 4%. On a CX-90, a light IRX or AIR film can add heat control without turning the third row into a cave at night. Do the CX-90’s second-row sunshades get in the way?
No, they work alongside film. Mazda Canada lists rear door sunshades from the GT up, and the owner’s manual explains that they pull upward from the second-row doors and hook into place.
Mazda’s sunshade cautions say to use the shades only with the windows fully closed, because an open window can unhook one and let it flap around the cabin. Film has no such limit. It stays on the glass whether the shade is up, down or the window is open, so the two do different jobs: the film cuts heat and UV all day, and the shade is there for a nap or a low sun.
Should the CX-90’s roof glass be tinted?
It’s worth a quote if the SUV lives outside in summer. The CX-90 comes with either a moonroof or a panoramic sunroof depending on trim; Mazda Canada fits the power-sliding panoramic moonroof to the PHEV GS-L, and the US deck puts panoramic glass on the Premium trims, with a smaller power sunroof on the Preferred.
The panoramic roof has its own sunshade, and Mazda’s panorama sunroof cautions note that the shade “does not tilt” and shouldn’t be pushed up or forced closed while the roof opens. What does BC law allow on a CX-90’s glass?
Film of any shade on everything behind the driver, including the liftgate glass, because the CX-90 has outside mirrors on both sides. MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows nothing on the front door glass and only the top 75 mm of the windshield.
The windshield on a CX-90 has a second constraint. Mazda’s Forward Sensing Camera section tells owners not to put stickers, accessories or film near the camera, and says an obstruction upsets the system “even if it is transparent”. Front-door or full-windshield film goes on only when a customer asks, and only once the shop has made clear that it isn’t road-legal, that it can bring a $109 ticket and an order to remove it, and that it fails inspection.
