Which coating package suits a Taycan?
The one that matches the paint you start with. All three packages use the same graphene-ceramic coating; what changes is how many layers go on, how much correction goes under them and which surfaces are included. Each Taycan is quoted after its paint has been looked at.
| Package | What goes under it | Coating layers | What gets coated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | At least one stage of machine polish | One | Paintwork |
| Performance | Correction in two stages | Two | Paintwork, wheel faces and glass |
| Signature | Full correction | Four | Paintwork, PPF, wheels, glass and trim |
Whichever you choose, the car is washed to decontaminate it and clayed, and a gauge reads the paint thickness before a polisher touches it. Correction and curing take up most of the one to three days, and the coating needs a dry 24 hours once you’ve driven away.
Which Taycan surfaces shouldn’t be machine polished?
The satin and matt ones. Porsche’s 2024 Taycan press kit describes Turbonite, the accent colour reserved for the Turbo models, as a metallic grey whose “top layer has a contrasting satin-matt finish.” On the Turbo it covers the rear logo, “the borders of the side windows and the inlays in the side sills,” and the wheel spokes.
Machine polishing raises gloss, which is the opposite of what a satin surface is meant to show, so those parts should stay away from the pad. Earlier Taycans have matt details of their own: Porsche’s 2022 Sport Turismo release lists the GTS with its tailgate model designation “in Matt Black”. Point every one of these out at drop-off and ask how each will be coated.
How do carbon and high-gloss black trims change the prep?
They add surfaces that behave differently from paint, and which ones you have depends on the version. Porsche’s 2019 Taycan Turbo press kit and the later releases list these:
| Taycan | Exterior trim Porsche lists | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Turbo (2019 kit) | Lower front inlay in body colour, side window trims in high-gloss silver | Gloss |
| Turbo S (2019 kit) | Carbon lower front and diffuser inlays, side window trims in high-gloss black | Carbon and gloss black |
| GTS Sport Turismo (2022) | High-gloss black window trims, matt black tailgate lettering, black light strip | Gloss black and matt |
| Turbo and Turbo S (2024 kit) | Turbonite accents; carbon for all trim inserts on the Turbo S | Satin-matt and carbon |
Name any high-gloss black or exposed carbon at drop-off so its prep is agreed before work starts. Signature is the package whose coating takes in trim as well as paint.
Can the coating go on a Taycan’s wheels and glass?
Yes, either within a package or as add-ons. Performance takes in the wheel faces and glass, Signature adds the trim and any PPF, and wheel and caliper coating, glass coating and interior protection can be added to any package.
Porsche fits aerodynamically optimised wheels as standard on the current Taycan and offers Exclusive Design wheels with aeroblades in Turbonite on the Turbo models. The shop says a wheel coating keeps brake dust from bonding, which counts on faces like those. A Taycan with film on the front can have the film and the paint coated in the same stay; ceramic coating over PPF explains how that’s done.
How do you book a Taycan coating in Langley?
Send the year, body, variant and colour, and list any satin, matt or carbon parts you know about. Say whether the car already has PPF, since film changes which package makes sense.
The Taycan stays one to three days and goes home needing a dry first day. Ask for a quote with the Taycan coating quote form or call 604 534 6433. Still choosing between coating and film? PPF versus ceramic coating sets them side by side, and Taycan PPF lists the film packages.
