What’s included in each Model 3 coating package?
Three packages, set apart by layers, correction and coverage. The shop measures paint thickness before recommending one, which is why each Model 3 gets its own quote rather than a list price.
| On a Model 3 | Coats | Polishing beforehand | Beyond the paint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | One | As the inspection decides | Nothing else |
| Performance | Two | Two-stage correction | Wheel faces and glass |
| Signature | Four | Full correction | Film, whole wheels, glass, exterior trim |
Drop-off to collection spans one to three days, followed by a dry first day. Add-ons such as wheel and caliper coating or glass coating can be quoted with any package.
What does Tesla’s own paint guide say about polishing a Model 3?
That minor flaws in factory paint can be polished out, carefully. The Paint Defect Rectification procedure in the 2024+ Model 3 manual lists holograms, swirls, solvent pop, overspray and light to medium scratches as low-risk defects, along with paint inclusions under 1.5 mm on flat panels or under 1.0 mm near a character line. Anything larger, or off-colour, goes to a body shop.
The method is cautious with the clear coat. A dirt inclusion is sanded for no more than 3 seconds at a time, at most three times, and if it hasn’t shrunk by half, the procedure stops. On body lines Tesla says to sand by hand, cut for 5 seconds instead of 15, and slow the buffer by 40 to 50%.
For a coating, the lesson is that correction removes paint, so it should be measured, not guessed. That’s the shop’s approach too: the paint gauge comes out before the polisher, and the depth of correction follows what’s there. The wider picture is on paint correction.
Which colours and finishes does Tesla list for the Model 3?
Metallics, tricoats and one non-metallic black. The 2024+ Model 3 table and the 2017–2023 table both keep Solid Black with a plain solid finish.
| Finish | 2024+ Model 3 table | 2017–2023 table |
|---|---|---|
| Solid | Solid Black | Solid Black |
| Metallic | Deep Blue, Diamond Black, Frost Blue, Marine Blue, Stealth Gray | Deep Blue, Midnight Silver, Silver, Stealth Gray |
| Tricoat metallic | Ultra Red, Quicksilver, Pearl White Multi-Coat | Ultra Red, Red Multi-Coat, Quicksilver, Pearl White Multi-Coat |
| Quadcoat metallic | None listed | Midnight Cherry Red |
The tables cover Tesla colours broadly, so not every line was offered on every Model 3. If yours is Solid Black, ceramic coating a black car covers what to expect. Your code is shown under Car Details on the touchscreen.
What about the spoiler, wheels and glass?
They’re covered by the bigger packages. Tesla’s 2024+ manual includes a carbon fibre spoiler that is bonded to the trunk lid and cut free with a badge-removal line, with a caution to protect the paint and trim around it. Where your car has one, it’s trim, and Signature coats trim.
Wheels come in at the Performance level, faces only, and Signature does them entirely; the 2024+ table lists finishes such as Liquid Vapor and Zero G on the 19-inch Nova wheel and Phantom Metallic on the 18-inch Photon. Both packages also coat the glass.
How do you book a Model 3 coating in Langley?
For a quote, list the year, trim, colour code and wheel size, and attach a few daylight photos of the paint. Mention any film on the car or planned; with Model 3 PPF in the plan, the film is fitted before the coating so one session seals both.
Request a price on the ceramic coating quote form or phone the shop on 604 534 6433; it’s closed Sundays.
