BMW X5 Chrome Delete in Langley, BC

At a glance

Brookswood Tint blacks out a BMW X5's satin aluminum and chrome-look trim with 3M or Avery Dennison cast vinyl, priced for each X5 and carrying the shop's published 5-year vinyl warranty. The amount of trim depends on the package: on 2019 to 2026 X5s, the xLine look carries the bright window surrounds and roof rails, while M Sport already makes those gloss black.

How is an X5 chrome delete priced?

Per vehicle, once the shop knows which pieces are bright on your X5 and which you want black. An xLine X5 with satin aluminum window surrounds and rails is a bigger job than an M Sport X5 that already has gloss black ones.

Gloss or satin, the vinyl comes from 3M or Avery Dennison, both cast films, and carries a 5-year warranty under the shop’s published terms. Small trim pieces take the time: every edge is wrapped and finished by hand, and the edges are what people see. The shop’s own chrome delete page rates the window trim as the piece that changes an SUV’s look the most; window trim chrome delete shows what that covers. What sets the figure is explained in chrome delete cost.

Where is the bright trim on a 2019 to 2026 X5?

On the xLine look, around the windows, on the roof rails and on the grille. BMW Canada’s 2019 X5 launch release lists “roof rails and side window surrounds in satin Aluminum” and kidney grille bars “finished in matte aluminum” for the xLine, “plus other accents in Pearl-effect Chrome”. On the M Sport version, the roof rails and side window surrounds are “high-gloss black”.

The 2024 update kept the split. BMW’s 2023 media kit gives the updated X5 “standard Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim”, and the Canadian 2024 X5 release adds new air breathers behind the front wheels with a curved element “finished either in chrome or in black, depending on model or package”.

X5, 2024 to 2026 What BMW lists
Standard Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim; air breather element in chrome or black, by model
M Sport Package Gloss black window surround and roof rails
M Sport Pro Package Adds a matte black kidney grille surround and black chrome tailpipe trim

On a standard X5, the satin window surrounds and rails are the heart of the job, plus the air breathers and grille if they’re bright. On an M Sport car, the work shrinks to whatever is still bright on the grille and air breathers, and any badges you want darkened.

What did BMW black out on its own special X5s?

The same parts a chrome delete targets. For the Canada-only 2025 X5 Edition 25 Jahre, BMW fitted “Gloss Black Window Surrounds and Black Exterior Contents”, which it says darken “the window surrounds, roof rails, fender mounted Air Breathers, and the standard illuminated kidney grille”.

That list is a useful checklist for a standard X5: window surrounds, roof rails, the two air breathers and the kidney grille. The grille on later X5s can be illuminated, so ask the shop how it handles the lit outline before deciding to include it; grille chrome delete covers the options.

What changes on the 2027 X5?

Less chrome to begin with. BMW’s June 2026 release says the new BMW Winglet door handles in the B- and C-pillars are finished “in Black high-gloss”, and the side skirts are matte black as standard. The M Sport Pro Package adds a darkened kidney grille and exterior mirrors in high-gloss black.

So on a 2027 X5 the remaining bright pieces depend on the packages fitted, and the shop quotes from what’s actually on the car. Headlights and taillights stay as BMW made them. BC’s 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual treats a lamp lens that “is covered in any manner” as grounds for rejection (section 6, item 1.0(a)), which is why the vinyl ends at the lamp edges.

What does the shop need for an X5 chrome delete quote?

The year and model, whether the X5 has the M Sport or M Sport Pro Package, and a photo of the trim you want blacked out. You’ll get a price back with a drop-off slot.

The chrome delete quote form is the place to start. If you’re also changing the glass, BMW X5 window tint can be done in the same visit, and the answer on reversing a chrome delete explains what happens if you sell or return the X5.

Questions about BMW X5 chrome delete

01Can a leased X5 have a chrome delete?

Yes. The vinyl goes over BMW's finish rather than replacing it, so it can come off before the X5 goes back. The reversibility answer covers how removal works.

02Gloss or satin black on an X5?

3M and Avery Dennison make both finishes in cast vinyl. Gloss echoes the high-gloss black BMW uses on M Sport X5s, and satin is quieter; compare samples on your car before choosing.

03Will the shop black out the X5's headlights to match?

Not as part of a chrome delete. BMW offers darkened Shadowline headlights from the factory, but film over a headlight lens can fail a BC inspection, so the vinyl stays on the trim.

04How long does an X5 chrome delete take?

The piece count decides it, and so does the grille. Your quote comes with a drop-off time.
