Which GX trim can be blacked out?
Whatever bright trim your GX actually has, one piece at a time. Lexus Canada’s spec sheets list wheels, roof rails and paint by grade but don’t break out trim finishes, so the quote begins with a walk around your car, listing each bright or plated part and whether you want it black.
The shop’s chrome delete list runs to window surrounds, grille surrounds and bars, badges, door handles, mirror caps, roof rails and bumper trim. Each piece is wrapped in a 3M or Avery Dennison black in the finish you prefer, and you decide which ones stay bright. Lexus describes the current GX’s face as continuing its spindle body design, with the grille opening raised for the 2024 redesign, in its launch release. The grille chrome delete page and badge blackout page cover those two areas in more depth.
What does the Overtrail already black out?
More than any other grade. Lexus gives the Overtrail and Overtrail+ “black accented overfenders” and the range’s only two-tone paints: Atomic Silver, Incognito, Nori Green Pearl and Earth, each paired with a black roof. Lexus calls Earth a Lexus first.
Lexus Canada’s 2027 product summary adds bridge-type roof rails, a front skid plate and 18-inch wheels on 33-inch all-terrain tires for both Overtrail grades. An Overtrail may need less vinyl to look finished, and whatever is wrapped has the black roof and overfender accents to match.
| 2027 GX grade (Canada) | Wheels | Factory dark parts named by Lexus |
|---|---|---|
| Signature | 20-inch black alloy | Black wheels |
| Premium | 20-inch black machined alloy | Black machined wheels |
| Luxury, Executive | 22-inch forged alloy | None listed |
| Overtrail, Overtrail+ | 18-inch alloy, 33-inch all-terrain tires | Black-accented overfenders; black roof on the two-tones |
How do the GX’s wheels and roof shape a blackout?
They set what the black trim has to sit beside. On the Signature and Premium, Lexus Canada’s GX specifications list black or black machined 20-inch wheels, so blacked-out trim matches something already on the car. The Luxury and Executive ride on 22-inch forged wheels, a finish worth holding your vinyl samples next to before choosing gloss or satin.
The black roof is the bigger gap. Lexus keeps it to the Overtrail grades, so on a Premium, Luxury or Executive the same split comes from a gloss black vinyl roof, which is quoted as a roof wrap alongside the trim.
Gloss or satin black on a GX?
Gloss black reads like painted trim and sits naturally beside gloss paint; satin is flatter and throws back far less light. Hold samples of both against the car outdoors in daylight, with the GX’s own black wheels, roof or overfenders in view, and pick the one that matches what Lexus already put there.
Vinyl is also the reversible option: pull it off later and the factory trim is still there, which matters on a leased GX or one you plan to sell. Removal is explained under whether a chrome delete is reversible. The vinyl carries the 5-year warranty the shop publishes for 3M and Avery Dennison film.
How is a GX chrome delete quoted and booked?
There’s no published price: each GX is quoted once the pieces are listed. Send pictures from every side with the year and grade, or bring the GX by the shop on the Langley Bypass, and the quote will name every piece and its finish.
Lights are a separate service. Lexus’s launch release describes a “signature unified L-shaped light bar” at the rear; smoked film on it is done as headlight and taillight tint, and it can fail a BC inspection, since the lamp item of the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual, 1.0(a) in Section 6, won’t pass a lens “covered in any manner”. For a full blackout on another car, see the shop’s BMW M8 Competition project. Ask for a GX price on the chrome delete quote form.
