Where is the chrome on a Toyota Tundra, grade by grade?
Mostly on the Platinum, 1794 and Capstone. Toyota Canada’s 2026 Tundra announcement and its 2026 specifications describe the exterior finish of each grade, and the brightwork climbs with the price:
| 2026 Tundra grade or package | Exterior finish Toyota describes |
|---|---|
| Platinum | Chrome grille and exterior accents |
| 1794 Edition | Chrome accents with grade-specific machine-finished 20-inch wheels |
| Capstone | Unique chrome accents and 22-inch wheels in dark chrome and machine finishes |
| Limited Nightshade | Black grille, overfenders and rear bumper; gloss black belt moulding, door handles and tailgate handle; semi-black 4x4 and name badges |
| Limited TRD Off Road | Blackout Appearance Package: black grille surround, door handles, mirrors, rear bumper, window trim, tailgate handle and badging |
| TRD Rally package | Tundra and SR5 door badges and the 4x4 tailgate badge removed |
So a Platinum or 1794 delete is a full job across the chrome grille and accents, while a Nightshade or Limited TRD Off Road leaves little bright metal to cover. Photos from the front, one side and the back tell the shop which version it’s quoting.
What does Toyota’s own blackout already cover?
The Nightshade and the Blackout Appearance Package each turn a long list of Tundra trim black at the factory. On the Nightshade that includes the belt moulding along the bottom of the side windows and the door and tailgate handles in gloss black, with the 4x4 and name badges in semi-black. The Limited TRD Off Road’s package goes further and adds black mirrors and window trim.
Those lists double as a menu for owners of other grades. If you like the Nightshade look on a Platinum, the same pieces can be wrapped in vinyl: grille, handles, belt moulding and badges, then mirrors and window trim if you want the Limited TRD Off Road look. Gloss black matches Toyota’s gloss handles and moulding; satin sits nearer the semi-black badges. Single pieces are fine too, such as badge and emblem blackout on its own.
Can the grille and emblem on a Tundra be wrapped?
The grille can, and the emblem needs a check first. Every 2026 Tundra comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, according to Toyota’s specifications, and Toyota previews Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 as standard for 2027. Before any vinyl goes over the emblem or the area around it, check your owner’s manual for where the radar sensor sits and what it says about covering it. 3M’s 2080 bulletin recommends never applying its film over sensors or radar, so if the manual places the radar behind the emblem, the emblem keeps its factory finish while the bars around it go black.
Every grille bar has edges the vinyl has to wrap, and the grille blackout page explains how bar count and depth drive a quote.
Does the 2027 Tundra change the chrome delete?
It changes the parts. The 2027 Tundra preview brings a fresh front design: grille patterns on a hexagonal theme that change from grade to grade, rectangular fog lights built into the bumper, and a Trailhunter package with bronze-coloured wheels and badges of its own. Toyota says full details arrive in fall 2026.
For a 2027, that means the quote is built from your own truck’s photos rather than from a 2026 Tundra’s layout. The vinyl, the finishes and the process are the same; the pieces and their edges are not.
How long does a vinyl chrome delete last, and can it come off?
The shop’s published term on 3M and Avery Dennison vinyl is five years. 3M’s 2080 product bulletin says heat and chemicals, alone or together, take the film off most surfaces during the warranty period, so vinyl fits a leased truck or one you plan to sell. Whether a chrome delete is reversible goes into removal in more detail.
To book, photograph the front, both sides and the rear, note the grade and model year, and say gloss or satin. Upload the photos through the Tundra chrome delete quote form or send them by text (604 534 6433); the price that comes back covers only the pieces you chose.
