What is LLumar Valor paint protection film?
Valor is LLumar’s two-in-one film: a self-healing urethane PPF with a water-shedding top coat built in, so it is meant to do the job of film and coating at once. LLumar’s Valor page heads it “Install Our Best” and says it “gives you the self-healing protection of premium PPF with a ceramic-style finish in a single product.”
The PPF lineup page puts the same idea another way: “the sought-after benefits of premium PPF and easy-wash ceramic coating with 2-in-1 Valor”. The top coat is Tetrashield, which LLumar calls “OEM-trusted”. LLumar publishes no thickness, layer build or lab data for Valor, so its own wording is the record of what the film is meant to do.
What does LLumar claim for Valor?
LLumar makes four claims, each with its own wording and, in two cases, a footnote. The table puts each claim beside the small print that goes with it.
| Claim | LLumar’s wording | The footnote or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Easy cleaning | Tetrashield technology, “which is super hydrophobic”, “for effortless washing and less dirt build-up” | Hydrophobic durability “can be influenced by environmental conditions”, including “road treatment chemicals and cleaning substances/frequency” |
| Clarity | An “ultra-glossy finish, free of orange peel-like texture and optical distortion” | No measurement given |
| Stain resistance | “up to 25% more environmental resistance” than typical PPF, against “acid rain, bird droppings and tree sap” | “Compared to top brands”; no test method named |
| Impact and healing | Protection “against rocks, road debris, winter salt and sand” while “self-healing surface scratches with sun or engine heat” | Healing covers surface scratches, not cuts |
Read the first footnote closely if you live here. The water-beading that makes Valor easy to wash is the part LLumar says can wear with road chemicals and how often, and with what, you clean the car.
How is Valor different from LLumar Platinum?
Valor carries two more years of warranty and a different top coat than Platinum Gloss, the film in every Brookswood Tint PPF package. Both self-heal and both are gloss films; the difference is how far each one leans into easy washing.
| LLumar Valor | LLumar Platinum Gloss | |
|---|---|---|
| Limited warranty | 12 years | 10 years |
| Top coat | Tetrashield, “super hydrophobic” | HydroGard, for “stain resistance and durability” |
| How LLumar pitches it | PPF and an easy-wash coating in one film | “A favorite of auto enthusiasts and purists” |
| Finishes | Ultra-glossy only, as described | Gloss; Platinum Matte is the flat version |
| At Brookswood Tint | Ask when you request a quote | Every published package |
Platinum Extra, which LLumar makes for gravel roads and track use, is a third option and carries 10 years as well. The Platinum family is set out on LLumar Platinum PPF, and how LLumar’s terms compare with another maker’s on LLumar PPF vs XPEL PPF.
Is Valor the same as PPF with a ceramic coating on top?
It is LLumar’s version of that pairing, sold as one product. With Valor, the slick surface is part of the film; with Platinum, the same kind of easy washing comes from a coating applied over the film afterwards.
That second route is how Brookswood Tint does it. The shop applies a graphene-ceramic coating over film as a separate job, which keeps the car for one to three days and needs it kept dry for 24 hours after it leaves; the coating can also carry on across paint the film doesn’t cover. The order of work and the wait after an install are explained on ceramic coating over PPF. The choice comes down to one film from one maker, or film on the impact zones with a coating over the whole car.
What does Valor’s 12-year warranty cover?
LLumar’s Valor page states the term, “a manufacturer’s limited 12-year warranty”, but not the list of defects it covers. The written terms come from the dealer that installs the film, so ask for them with any Valor quote.
LLumar’s PPF FAQ sets out limits that apply across its paint protection films. Edge lifting from pressure-washers and automatic car washes falls outside “the limited manufacturer’s warranty”. Problems on aftermarket or repaired paint aren’t covered, because the film is made for original painted surfaces, and LLumar suggests 30 days for fresh paint to outgas if you go ahead anyway. Carbon fibre parts are ineligible too, since LLumar doesn’t count them as OEM paint. Brookswood Tint’s own warranty terms for the films it installs are on the warranty page.
How does Valor handle a Fraser Valley winter?
LLumar names winter directly in Valor’s pitch: rocks, road debris, winter salt and sand. TranBC says BC’s highway contractors use “salt, salt brines, anti-icing agents and abrasives”, which is what a front bumper meets on Highway 1 every winter.
Cold itself isn’t the worry. Some of LLumar’s highest-volume regions, its FAQ notes, are cold ones such as Calgary, Colorado and Norway, and it states that its film “can withstand winter cold” when properly cared for. Its warnings are about removal: film shouldn’t come off in extreme cold, and LLumar wants a professional to remove it inside, with the temperature at 55 °F (roughly 13 °C) or above. Road salt and brine are exactly the “road treatment chemicals” LLumar’s footnote says can affect how long Valor keeps beading water, so rinse the front end after salty drives.
How do you ask for Valor at Brookswood Tint?
Start with the PPF quote form, name Valor, and say which coverage you want. Every published starting price at the shop is for LLumar Platinum: Partial Front $850, Full Front $1,550, Track Package $1,900, Full Vehicle $4,000. Bigger cars, fussier panels and tired paint all push the final figure up from there.
For any PPF job, the preparation is the same. Before anything is cut from the software templates, the paint is decontaminated, and polished too if it has defects; edges get wrapped wherever a panel permits. Partial Front coverage usually means about a day at the shop, Full Front or Track one to two days, and a whole car three to five. What each package covers is on PPF cost in Langley.
