What do the PPF packages cost on an i4?
In LLumar Platinum, an i4 starts at $850 for the Partial Front and climbs through $1,550 and $1,900 to $4,000 for full coverage. These are starting prices, and the final figure depends on the i4 version, its panels and the condition of the paint.
| Package | What it protects on an i4 | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Partial Front | The full bumper, the front of the hood and fenders, headlights, mirrors | $850 |
| Full Front | Hood and front fenders in full, bumper, headlights, mirrors | $1,550 |
| Track Package | Full Front with the A-pillars, roof front and rocker panels added | $1,900 |
| Full Vehicle | The whole painted body of the i4 and its headlights | $4,000 |
Templates are software-cut for the model and edges are wrapped where the panel allows; if a bumper needs a relief cut, the shop shows you where first. Before film goes on, the i4’s paint is decontaminated and, where needed, corrected. Platinum carries a 10-year LLumar limited warranty, and the shop’s terms list yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling.
Where does an i4’s front end take chips?
Across a wide, mostly painted face. BMW’s US launch release for the 2022 i4 explains that the kidney grille is largely blocked off because the electric drive needs little cooling air, and that the front bumper has only a small number of openings, mainly the Air Curtains at its outer edges that guide air past the wheels. BMW describes the front surfaces as painted almost entirely in body colour.
A gasoline car hides some of its nose behind mesh and intakes. On an i4, most of what faces the road is painted bumper, so gravel thrown up on the highway lands on paint. The Partial Front covers the full bumper; the Full Front adds the whole hood and both front fenders, where BMW sets air breathers into the side sill trim. For an EV-specific view, see PPF on electric vehicles.
How do the grille sensors affect PPF on an i4?
They make the grille a trim and sensor area rather than a paint panel. BMW’s 2022 release says that, depending on equipment, the front camera is joined by ultrasonic and radar sensors set into the surface of the kidney grille. BMW Canada’s 2024 i4 release describes the refreshed grille: a fully enclosed upper section, a high-gloss black lower surface with a matte-silver honeycomb, and a matte chrome surround, or high-gloss black with the optional Black Exterior Contents.
None of the four packages includes the grille. Tell the shop which driver assistance options the car has, so the bumper template is planned with them in mind.
Which i4 trim pieces aren’t paint?
More than you’d guess, and the list changes by version and year. On the 2022 to 2024 i4 M50, BMW finished the grille surround, the trim around the Air Curtains, the mirror caps and the rear bumper inlays in Cerium Grey, with high-gloss black air breathers, side sill strips and rear bumper trim. For 2025 the M50’s front apron elements went from Cerium Grey to high-gloss black, and an optional M Carbon package added carbon side intake trim, mirror caps, diffuser finishers and a small rear spoiler.
BMW USA’s 2026 update adds black mirror caps to the Shadowline package on the eDrive40 and xDrive40. Mirrors are in every package, so say what finish your caps have. Gloss film on a matte or satin piece adds shine, which is worth knowing before anything is covered.
How do you book PPF for an i4 in Langley?
Send the model year, the version (eDrive35, eDrive40, xDrive40, M50 or M60), the paint name and the package you’re considering. The shop quotes that car and gives the time it needs.
Allow about a day for the Partial Front, one to two days for the Full Front or Track Package, and three to five for the full car. The shop asks for a week before the first wash, while LLumar’s FAQ says three days; after that, hand or touchless washes only. What the Partial Front includes is set out on its own page, and i4 window tint fits into the same visit. Ask through the i4 PPF quote form or call 604 534 6433.
