EV Paint Protection Film in Langley

At a glance

Electric cars are filmed on the same four LLumar Platinum packages as gas cars at Brookswood Tint, priced from $850 for the partial front through $1,550 and $1,900 to $4,000 for full coverage, all before tax. What changes on an EV is the planning: radar and camera covers in the front end that carmakers say to keep clear of film, and long electric SUVs whose panels quote above the starting figure.

What does PPF cost on an electric car?

An EV is priced on the same four LLumar Platinum packages as a gas car, and the drivetrain never changes the starting figure. Size, panel shape and paint condition decide how far above it your quote lands, and the time in the shop runs from a day for the nose to as many as five for the whole car.

Package Film goes on Starting price before tax Sensor covers to plan around
Partial Front Whole bumper, a front section of hood and fenders, headlights, mirrors $850 Front radar and any bumper cameras or parking sensors
Full Front Hood, fenders and bumper edge to edge, headlights, mirrors $1,550 The same front hardware
Track Package Full Front’s panels plus pillars beside the windshield, a strip of roof and the sills $1,900 The same front hardware
Full Vehicle Every painted panel and the headlights $4,000 Front hardware plus any rear or side sensors

Many electric models are big. Kia’s EV9 owner’s manual lists the three-row SUV at 5,010 mm long and 1,980 mm wide on a 3,100 mm wheelbase, so its hood, fenders and sills hold far more film than a compact’s. Expect a large electric SUV or pickup to be quoted above the starting price. Individual models have their own pages, such as PPF for the Kia EV9 and PPF for the Tesla Model Y.

How is film planned around an EV’s sensors and cameras?

Carmakers want the front radar cover left clear of film and stickers, so the film plan has to work around it. Give the shop your trim level and its driver-assistance features so the plan matches the hardware your car carries.

Kia is direct about it. The EV9’s manual section on Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist says not to apply “license plate frame or objects, such as a bumper sticker, film or a bumper guard, near the front radar cover,” and to keep the cover clean. Paint protection film counts as film, so that cover is the area to keep clear when the bumper piece is planned. Toyota’s 2025 Tacoma manual, written for a gas truck, makes the same point more broadly: no accessories or stickers, “including transparent stickers,” on or around the radar sensor cover.

What to tell the shop

  • Year, model and trim. Sensor hardware can differ from one trim to the next.
  • Assistance features. Adaptive cruise, collision avoidance and parking sensors all point to hardware in the front end.
  • Any recent bumper repair. A replaced or repainted bumper is worth mentioning, since LLumar makes its film for original factory paint.

Which parts of an electric car take the most chips?

The same parts as on any car: the bumper, the leading edge of the hood or front trunk lid, the mirrors and the headlights. That’s why every package starts at the front of the car.

Where an EV differs is the shape of its nose. If your car has a closed, painted panel where a gas car has a grille, there’s more paint facing the road, and the Full Front package covers the whole of it along with the full hood and fenders. A partial front protects the most-hit zone for less but ends its hood and fender pieces partway across the paint. For long highway commutes, the Track Package adds the sills and A-pillars.

Is EV paint different, and does it change the film?

The film and the packages don’t change with the drivetrain. Whether electric cars leave the factory with softer paint is a separate question, answered on whether EVs have softer paint.

What does matter is the paint’s condition on the day. Every car’s front panels are decontaminated before film, and corrected first if the paint has swirls or haze, after its thickness is measured. LLumar’s PPF FAQ is written around factory paint, so flag a resprayed bumper when you book.

How do you wash an electric car with paint protection film?

Let a week pass before any wash; after that, it’s hands or a touchless wash only, never brushes. Hold any pressure wand well back from both the film’s edges and the sensor covers.

Kia’s exterior care section for the EV9 adds two points that fit any EV: don’t aim a high-pressure washer directly at cameras, sensors or the area around them, and don’t wash inside the motor compartment, because water there “may cause the failure of electrical circuits.” On the film side, LLumar cautions that pressure washers and automatic washes can raise its edges, and its limited warranty excludes damage done that way.

What do EV owners pair with PPF?

Window tint and a coating are the two other services that fit the same visit. Tint goes on the inside of the glass and is priced separately on EV window tint; a coating can be laid over both the film and the unfilmed paint, as ceramic coating over PPF describes.

For the full picture of film, tint and the legal limits on an electric car, read the EV owner’s guide to tint and PPF. The order is fixed: paint prep, then film, then any coating, with tint fitting into the same visit.

How do you book PPF for your EV in Langley?

Send the year, model and trim, the assistance features it has and the package you want using the PPF quote form; texts to 604 534 6433 work too. Plan around $1,550 plus tax and one to two days for a full front, more for a large electric SUV. The Langley Bypass shop takes cars six days a week; it’s closed Sundays.

Asked at the counter

Questions about EV paint protection film

01Can PPF go on the front trunk lid of an EV?

Yes. On an electric car with a front trunk, the lid sits where a hood would, and the partial and full front packages treat it as the hood. Full Front covers it edge to edge.

02Will PPF affect my EV's driver-assistance sensors?

It shouldn't, if the film is planned around them. Kia's EV9 manual, for one, says not to put film near the front radar cover, so tell the shop which assistance features your trim has and the pattern can be checked against them.

03Can my EV have matte PPF?

Yes. LLumar Platinum Matte is offered on the same packages and turns gloss paint satin. On a partly covered car the satin look stops where the film stops, so full coverage gives the most even result.

04Does PPF change an EV's range?

The shop makes no range claim for paint protection film. It's sold to stop chips and scuffs on the panels it covers, nothing else.
