What does window tint cost on a BMW i4?
From $240 in LLumar ATC dyed film for everything behind the front seats: both rear door windows, any quarter glass and the window in the tailgate. The i4 is priced on the five-window rear package, and IRX or AIR ceramic on the same glass is quoted per car.

The plotter cuts each piece from the i4’s own pattern, so no blade touches the glass or seals, and each one is heat-formed and fitted by hand. LLumar warranties the film for life (a limited warranty), and the shop does the same for its labour. Every class price is on the window tint price list.
How do frameless doors change an i4 tint job?
They put the top edge of the film on show. BMW’s US launch release for the 2022 i4 lists doors with frameless windows among the details that give the car its coupe look. With no frame around the glass, the upper edge of each door window is visible whenever a door opens, and so is the edge of the film on it.
That makes the cut matter more than usual. A plotter-cut piece made for the i4’s glass gives an even line along that exposed edge. A thin gap at the very top is normal on any roll-down window; why there’s a gap at the top of tinted windows explains it.
What sits behind the rear seats on an i4?
A large tailgate rather than a boot lid. BMW describes the i4 as a coupe-style car with “the comfort of a four-door car and a practical appeal offered by the large tailgate”, and puts the reversing camera in the BMW badge on that tailgate. BMW Canada’s 2024 i4 release adds that in Canada the Gran Coupe body is sold only as the i4.
So the back glass is a long, sloped liftback window, and it’s the pane that needs the most heat-shaping. The same US release lists a standard glass slide and tilt sunroof measuring about 87 by 58 cm (34.1 by 23 inches), stretching into the rear of the cabin with an opening front panel. Roof glass isn’t in the rear package; sunroof tint covers how it’s priced. Canadian equipment can differ, so check what your car has.
What can be tinted on an i4 in BC?
Everything behind the driver, at any shade. The frameless front door windows are still front side windows, and they can’t legally carry film of any kind.
MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film on side windows behind the driver, on the rear window when there are outside mirrors on both sides, and only in the top 75 mm of the windshield. Frameless glass changes nothing about that. The shop will film the front doors ($140) or the full windshield ($200) on request, but an i4 driven that way isn’t road-legal; a ticket typically runs $109 and police can order the film removed and the car inspected. Which LLumar film suits an electric i4?
The one that matches what you want from the glass. ATC is the colour-stable dyed film in the starting price, at 28 to 44% total solar energy rejected (TSER) on LLumar’s performance data sheet. IRX nano-ceramic reaches 50 to 62% TSER. AIR 80 keeps the glass close to clear, passing 77% of visible light while rejecting 60% of infrared energy (IRER).

An i4 usually leaves the same day. Keep the filmed windows closed for three to five days while the film cures, and expect any slight haze to clear within the first week.
