What does PPF cost on a Defender?

Prices begin at $850 and climb to $4,000 for the whole Defender, across four LLumar Platinum packages. Expect the final figure to reflect the vehicle’s size, its flat and upright panels and the state of its paint. Before any film, the Defender is decontaminated, with machine correction only where its paint shows the need.

Package On a Defender, film goes on From Usual time
Partial Front Bumper, headlights, mirrors and the forward part of hood and fenders $850 About a day
Full Front Hood and fenders edge to edge, bumper, headlights, mirrors $1,550 1 to 2 days
Track Package Full Front, then A-pillars, sills below the doors and a band of roof $1,900 1 to 2 days
Full Vehicle Every painted panel, headlights included, tail door too $4,000 3 to 5 days

Platinum, LLumar’s self-healing film, lets light scratches close up with warmth. A Defender can have it in gloss or matte. Ten years is LLumar’s own limited-warranty term; the faults it covers, by the shop’s published wording, are yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling. Edges are wrapped around panels where the shape allows; step by step, the process is on the main PPF page.

Does a Defender with Land Rover’s protective film still need PPF?

Possibly not on the panels it already covers. Land Rover offers Matte Protective Film on the Defender, and from its July 2026 update a Gloss Protective Film too; JLR says the self-healing film protects against “scratches, stone chips and scuffs” (JLR, 8 July 2026). Land Rover Canada lists both as options (options and accessories).

The factory film has a history on the hood. At the 2020 launch, Land Rover’s SSM 75044 recorded “multiple complaints” of the Satin Protective Film delaminating at the front and rear corners of the bonnet, and told retailers to take extra care removing the white transit bag. Bring the build sheet or window sticker to the quote, so it covers only what’s bare. Factory versus aftermarket PPF sets out the trade-offs, and matte PPF shows what LLumar’s satin-look film does to gloss paint.

Where does a Defender take stone hits?

At the front mostly, but Land Rover’s own paperwork shows stones reach the back too. Its 2023 note to retailers on 20 to 23MY Defenders puts broken tail door glass down almost always to impact damage, rocks included (Land Rover service note). PPF isn’t made for that glass, but the painted tail door around it is part of the Full Vehicle package.

Up front, the hazard is winter grit. TranBC allows no abrasive piece over 9.5 mm on main highways, and points out that the same pebble hits close to twice as hard at 110 km/h as at 80. A Defender’s upright nose and flat hood meet that grit head-on, so for regular highway driving the Full Front package is worth pricing.

Which Defender parts need extra care when film goes on?

Three, all named in Land Rover’s own service paperwork.

  • Headlamp washer jets. Land Rover’s SSM76076 covers 2020-on Defender 90, 110 and 130 headlamp washer jets that drip because a one-way valve doesn’t seal. Point out a dripping jet at drop-off, so fluid at the lens edge isn’t mistaken for film lifting.
  • Accessory wheel arch protection. Land Rover’s SSM76493 says the arch protection kit is taped to the painted body, must not be painted, and needs the panel at 10 to 40 °C to bond. Film can’t reach paint hidden under a fitted kit without taking it off, so say whether yours has one.
  • Factory-filmed panels. Anything already under Land Rover’s Matte or Gloss Protective Film is listed separately on the quote.

How do you book Defender PPF in Langley?

Send the year, body (90, 110 or 130), trim, whether it has Land Rover’s protective film, and which package you’re considering. Photos of the hood corners and any arch protection help the quote.

Hold off washing the Defender for a week. After that, hand or touchless washing only, with pressure wands kept clear of the film edges. If a coating is planned as well, the film goes on first; the Defender ceramic coating page covers that order. For a Defender price, use the PPF quote form or dial 604 534 6433.

Questions about defender PPF

01My Defender's factory film is lifting at a hood corner. Is that normal?

Land Rover logged the satin film lifting at the hood's front and rear corners on early 2020 Defenders, listed the cause as under investigation and told retailers to take care removing the white transit bag. Have the dealer look at yours before any other film work.

02Can a Defender get matte PPF from the shop?

Yes. LLumar Platinum Matte fits the same four packages and gives gloss paint a satin finish.

03Does a Defender need the Track Package?

From $1,900, the Track Package takes the Full Front and adds film up the A-pillars, along the rockers and across the leading edge of the roof. Whether a Defender needs those panels depends on where it's driven; ask to see the coverage on your vehicle.

04How many days is a Defender in the shop for PPF?

Count on a day for a Partial Front on a Defender. Full Front and Track jobs keep a Defender one or two days and full-body film three to five, longer if the paint needs correcting first.
