How much is PPF on a Rivian R1S?
Expect an R1S to sit at or above the four LLumar Platinum starting prices: $850, $1,550, $1,900 and $4,000. Rivian Canada gives its bumper-to-bumper length as 200.8 inches on a 3,076 mm wheelbase, and a seven-seat SUV of that size uses more film on every panel.
| R1S package | Coverage | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Partial Front | Full bumper, leading hood and fenders, headlights, side mirrors | $850 |
| Full Front | Whole hood, whole fenders, full bumper, headlights, side mirrors | $1,550 |
| Track Package | Full Front plus a roof strip, A-pillars and rocker panels | $1,900 |
| Full Vehicle | Every painted panel plus the headlights | $4,000 |
All four use self-healing LLumar Platinum, gloss or matte, cut to software templates with the edges wrapped wherever a panel allows it. LLumar’s limited warranty runs 10 years, and the shop’s own terms list yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling as covered faults. Bumpers occasionally need a relief cut, and you’re shown its position before any film goes down.
What does Rivian’s guide say about film near the R1S’s sensors?
Keep it off them. In the camera section of the R1S owner’s guide, Rivian tells owners not to apply film, stickers, metal plates or other equipment that could block a camera, radar or sensor, and adds: “Only use Rivian-supplied paint protective film (PPF).”
Before you book: if staying inside Rivian’s wording matters to you, for warranty or lease reasons, ask Rivian first. Either way, ask the shop to show you where LLumar film will stop around each sensor before it goes on.
The hardware moved between generations, so the year matters:
| R1S | Front and rear | Driver’s side |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 to 2024 guide | Front camera, ultrasonic sensors, front radar sensor, front and rear corner radars, surround view cameras | Fender camera, wing camera, surround view camera |
| 2025 to 2027 guide | Front cameras, ultrasonic sensors, front imaging radar sensor, front and rear corner radars, surround view cameras | Wing camera, surround view camera, lane change camera |
Among its radar warnings, the guide also says not to damage, replace or modify the rear bumper, and notes that front and side warnings are unavailable when the front cameras and radars are blocked.
Which parts of an R1S take the most stones?
The forward-facing ones: the bumper, the front edge of the hood, the fenders, the headlights and the mirror caps. That’s where every package starts, and an R1S adds a few spots of its own.
- Front tow hooks. Rivian’s recovery section warns that the bumper and the hooks can get scratched when recovery gear is connected, and suggests protective tape or paint protection film.
- The lightbar zone. The front trunk opens from a hidden button under the lightbar, according to Rivian Canada, so film edges there need planning.
- Lower doors and rockers. Grit thrown back by the front tires reaches them on any SUV, which is what the Track Package’s rocker panels are for.
Rivian ships licence plate brackets on the rear and fits a front bracket only on request, which changes where film meets the front bumper. Say which you have. For what film can and can’t take, read whether PPF stops rock chips.
Which package suits an R1S kept for years?
Full Front is the usual floor for a highway-driven SUV, and Full Vehicle makes sense on an R1S you plan to keep, since it covers the long rear doors, the liftgate and the drop-down tailgate as well. Colour can tip the choice for some owners. Rivian Canada offers six colours on the Premium and eight on the Performance and Quad, and two of them, Red Canyon and Storm Blue, are kept for those upper trims. The EV paint protection page compares packages across electric models.
How should a filmed R1S be washed?
Hold off washing for a week after the film goes on. From then on, wash by hand or in a touchless bay; brush washes are out. Rivian’s own limits suit film edges: a pressure washer no stronger than 1,100 psi, a spray fan of at least 25 degrees, the nozzle at least 40 cm away, and a side-to-side sweep instead of holding on one spot. Car Wash mode closes the charge port door and mutes the parking sensors. To get a number, send the year, trim and colour to 604 534 6433 or use the R1S paint protection quote form.
