What does R1S window tint cost at the Langley shop?
An R1S is priced on the shop’s full-size SUV rear package: $260 in LLumar ATC dyed film for every pane behind the front doors, liftgate included. IRX or AIR ceramic on those windows is priced separately, and the glass roof gets its own quote.

The price covers genuine LLumar film cut on the plotter from the R1S pattern, so no blade goes near the glass or trim, and a lifetime warranty on the film and the shop’s labour. Which R1S windows take film behind the driver?
All of them, at any shade: the rear door glass, the side windows beside the third row and the glass in the liftgate. Rivian says the R1S third row is designed to let in natural light (Rivian Canada’s R1S page), so those side panes are a real part of the heat and glare load for whoever sits back there.
The liftgate glass has hardware of its own. The R1S owner’s guide describes a rear window wiper and washer, and a rear defrost that clears the back glass with heat. Film is applied on the inside, over the heating lines, and the wiper works on the outside face. The R1S also has a separate drop-down tailgate under the liftgate, but that panel carries no glass.
Rivian publishes no light-transmission figure for the side or rear glass. Film darkness multiplies with whatever the glass already blocks: a 20% film on glass that passes 20% leaves about 4%. Look at your own windows in daylight before settling on a number.
Is the R1S glass roof worth tinting?
Often less than the side glass, because Rivian has done much of that job already. Both editions of the guide describe a laminated glass roof that blocks more than 99.9% of ultraviolet light. On 2022 to 2024 vehicles it has a fixed tint with a single level of opacity.
The 2025 to 2027 guide offers two roofs. The standard one keeps the fixed tint. The Dynamic Glass Roof is a variable haze with two states, on or off, switched from the centre display. A roof with its own electronic layer isn’t treated like plain glass, so the shop checks which one you have before pricing anything for it. What do BC law and Rivian allow on the R1S’s front glass?
No film on the two front door windows and nothing lower than 75 mm from the top of the windshield, under MVAR s. 7.05(8). That holds for clear film as much as dark.
Rivian gives a second reason to leave the windshield alone. Its lane-safety features use cameras on the side mirrors and behind the rearview mirror, and the guide asks owners to keep the windshield and the area around the front camera in good condition and free of obstructions. A driver-facing camera also lives in the mirror housing.

How do you book R1S tint and look after it?
Send the model year and say whether the roof is the fixed-tint glass or the Dynamic Glass Roof. Rivian itself splits the R1S into Gen 1 (2022 to 2024) and Gen 2 (2025 on). Most SUVs are done the same day in two to four hours, and the windows stay up for three to five days while the film cures.
For cleaning, Rivian’s own interior care advice already suits filmed glass: a microfibre cloth dampened with an ammonia-free cleaner, and a check that the cleaner is safe on tinted windows.
